I dualled 13 lvl fighter to wild mage with SK as I never played wild mage before. Now he is lvl 13/17. Problem is that only once he's got wild surge (he entangled himself instead of stoneskin).

Everytime I cast spell casting lvl increases or decreases but that's it. Should those wild surges happen more often or what? I've tried those wild mage special spells couple of times but didn't notice anything.

Hey, I want to see that flying cow... :mommy:

Well you need luck, wild surges have a chance of %5 when you cast a spell. Cast Nahal's Reckless Dweomer, it will auto-cause a wild surge! Don't say I did not warn you though, that flying cow may be the last thing your mage sees!

Plus if you dualled your character is level 1 right? Don't expect any good wild surge at level 1 when casting NRD... Like Silverstar said you've been warned. ;)

The dualled caster is level 17.

I've been seeing the same though, I SK'd Jan to be a Wild Mage/Thief which makes infinite amounts of sense in my humble opinion, however I just about never see that 5% chance of a random surge, except for the "Caster level increased/decreased"

NHRD works as it's supposed to, triggering a surge, but still? 5% is every twentieth spell after all, and I've most certainly cast more spells than that without seeing anything at all? :hmm:

dunno, might be somthing in the wild mage class itself, perhaps changeing a normal mage to a wild mage via shadowkeeper leaves out some important variable that is activated when you start a wild mage as a new character. It might be somthing like dualing to any other specialist mage via shadow keeper, as you have to manually add the extra spells.

You might try starting as a plain wild mage and then changing the class description from mage to fighter/mage to get a fighter wild mage dual class.

I too believe that SKing your fighter/mage to fighter/wild mage is the cause of problems. I gave wild mage a try for about half an hour, in Irenicus dungeon, and got four or five wild surges in that time, ranging from refresing, to cow landing atop of me :p So, I wouldn't know what could be the problem instead of SK.

NHRD works but no wild surges without as Thor pointed out. Ah well.. I'm going to try Dethwyn's advice first if that doesn't work maybe I'll make wild mage in my next run instead. Or change Imoen to one. I really like the concept of wild mage as it fits well in BG-saga IMHO. "The product of Times of Trouble."

In my very same game I couldn't make Jaheira Fighter/Druid duall class either. Changed her to human and eventually ended trying to give her 18's in all her stats but still no luck. What are restrictions for dualling fighter to druid?

17 CHA. Except for that, you've got it.

Uhmm, if I try to make working Fi/WM in a way Dethwynd proposed, is there problems expected if I make completely new PC with SK and replace my current one via multiplayer or should I "reset" my current PC and build him anew with SK?

I'm very tired at the moment, I hope I made myself clear. And thanks for the dualling to druid answers.
