What are people's opinions on this option in HOW? The first time through for me I kept backstab as is, and only used it a few times in the game.

This time I decided to enable sneak attack and while it's definitely not as powerful as the backstab, it's nice to be able to use this just by moving to the back of an enemy and attacking. Thus I've been sending my two tanks into battle and while they engage the enemy my thief makes her way around back and attacks for added damage and a chance of a crippling strike (-1 AC, -1 THAC0 for enemy).

Does it make up for the loss of the backstab multiplier? Not on an one by one comparison, but figure in the fact that it's easier to pull off since you don't need to be shadowed and the fact that a successful hit and run makes things easier for your front line fighters and it's comparable.

    Any other opinions?
