As I'm sure most of you are aware, the recent recession ended in the US in the summer of 2009. Since then, the economy has been growing - albeit sluggishly. But this MSNBC report is especially troubling. Actual household income in the two years since the recession officially ended has fallen more than during the two years of the actual recession.

The reason given for this is that many people who were out of work and later got hired somewhere else, are working for less than what they were making before. This makes sense, as there are way more job seekers than job openings, so people looking for a job are in no position to make high salary demands.

Annual household income (note that's household, not individual - although some households do consist of one individual) was down to $49.9K in June. That's the first time it's been under $50K in about 5 years.

Nature of the beast throughout the world at the moment. No country can say they're doing really well.
