Sorry, but it's a Jaheira Romance question

Okay, I am truly sorry to do this, but I DO have a Jaheira Romance question. But, I have read the FAQ that is provided on this site (you guys are right, it's so much better than the other one, which only served to frusterate the hell outta me), and I have downloaded the patch provided on this site.
I have played the game a few times bfore, and am now only playing to find storylines and stuff I never got through before, and one of those things is the Jaheira Romance.
Now, for some reason, my game completely skipped Dermin's appearance, going ahead to the love talk sequences after it, but I'm not in a dungeon or anything. In fact, after every dialogue I had, I ran back to the slums, in front of the C.C., hoping to see the guy appear. But, he's yet to show his dirty mug.
So, now I'm on the one where my guy says Jaheira's pattern of questioning reflects Galvarey's, which, according to your romance guide, is LT=51. And, after my dialogue with her, after choosing the right answers, and using SetGlobal("JAHEIRAROMANCE","GLOBAL",1), the number moves to 52.
And yet, I STILL have no Dermin. I've stopped by the C.C. in the slums at least 10 times, I've slept in every inn (people are begining to think I'm easy), I've battled, and entered and exited dungeons and areas of Amn, and NOTHING has done anything.
Could this have something to do with having downloaded the patch after having passed the area your Romance guide says I should have first met Dermin (after LT=39)? Or, maybe, did I do something wrong? Should I have seen Dermin right after receiving LT=51?
I have been using SetGlobal("JAHEIRAROMANCE","GLOBAL",1) to move along the time so I didn't have to wait around. Could that have had an adverse reaction?
I really am sorry to trouble you guys with what must be the LAST type of question you would want to see here. But, truly, any help given would be greatly appreciated. This problem is picking on the back of my mind and I can't get rid of it until I get through this thing. Again, thanks for any help.
P.S. Oh, forgot to mention, not sure if it makes any diff, but I am on chapter 3, but have not gone into Bohdi's abode yet, as I wanted to get this going on the right track before I started the main story again.

 

Firstly Setting JRA global to 1 doesn't sped up the romance, it wouldn't actually change much at all.

And Dermin doesn't appear in the city, IIRC. (Well, he never has for me) So try going to the Umar hills or something, no wild creatures, plenty of open space for creature spawns, and an inquisitive moose nearby. What more could you want?

I'd also check Extremists guide off SP, though it sounds like you probably have, just to make sure you haven't broken the romance or set the wrong global or something.

 

The Jahiera romance is by far the most buggy in my experience .

I like the Viconia one best, because Aerie gets on my bollox moaning all the time .

Anyone actually played through the Anomen romance? What do you think to it?

 

I'm plonking through it now. I've never had him before, so I'm not sure what is romance and what is just his general subplot. So far, it's mostly him wondering aloud "how can I be a True Knight when I have all these urges to wear thick mascara and strangle kittens?" I've reassured him that such urges are perfectly normal, but that he should only indulge them in the bathroom with the door locked.

Maybe Soulafein will have a little more substance.

 

Are you saying that, other than speeding up the dialogues, using the ...JaheiraRomance,...1" doesn't really have any adverse reactions? So, that isn't my problem?
Hmm.. I had been told that Dermin was all about the city, but I'll definately try the outside now, and I'll walk all around the Umar Hills like they're made of chocolate.
But, Waaaiiiiitttttt a minute....
I remember reading, in the patch readme file, that it took a certain amount of time for Dermin to appear. I know the patch changed the amount of time, but what did it change it to? How long should I wait around in the Umar Hills? There's not really a lot to do there, so I don't wanna just endlessly walk around, waiting for him to appear (I've done that enough already).
Also, the time that the patch changed... Is it real time or game time? Can I just sleep a lot and make him appear?

You really can't change global timers from the console (at least, not the way you did it), so that's not what caused this problem.

The skipping LoveTalks thing is actually a known problem (I've had it happen with Viccy too). Do you have any third-person mod installed?

It's possible that Dermin spawned the instant you left an area and didn't have a chance to talk to you. What's the value of "DerminSpawn"?

 

Umm... third person mod? Do you mean the packs that you can download on here,the ones that add new characters and items? I don't have any of those. All I downloaded was the patch from this site to fix the game, and the patch for the Jaheira Romance.
As far as the Dermin numbers, how do I check that?

IIRC, Dermin will only spawn outdoors. The best place is outside de'Arnise Keep. With the Jaheira patch installed, I think Dermin will spawn after 5 in-game days, but you must be outdoors and, like I mentioned above, best if outside de'Arnise Keep.

I've played through it numerous times. The romance dialogues always have a distinct music associated with them. For Anomen, it sounds regal (for want of a better term); more trumpets and the like. For the most part as long as you don't call him a fool or melodramatic, the romance will progress along. His romance is actually the easiest of all the romances, not to mention the shortest. Depending on how you play, it's very easy to accomplish all of his romance-driven encounters before heading off to Spellhold. I, myself, like the romance.

 

Okay, I think I figured how to check my DerminSpawn numbers. Some people in the chats helped me out on this, so here goes.
I figured that the way you get it must be the same as checking on if Jaheira will match with you, which is GetGlobal("JaheiraMatch","GLOBAL").
But, here's the problem. I put that in, now changing the variables to be
GetGlobal("DerminSpawn","GLOBAL"), but the comp. said DerminSpawn doesn't exist... which troubles me to say the least. I've already slept probably about 16 days, and been to many areas (so far I've heard everything from Copper Coronet to D'Arnise Keep, to Umar Hills). But, I still have yet to see DERMIN!
Now, is that why? Is some bug keeping DerminSpawn from working?
Oh, by the by, someone told me to also check my DerminAppear number, and in everyone of my games (all the saves after Jaheira did her last LoveTalk), my DerminAppear value is something like 16900020. It hasn't advanced even one iota.
So, is the problem that I have no DerminSpawn, or that my DerminAppear number isn't moving? If it's the DerminAppear number, how do I get it to advance?
Thanks to everyone that's helped me out so far. It's a great relief to know that I've moved along at least somewhat here. But, I can't WAIT for this whole problem to be over. Hahah.

Rastor, You haven't said what that is supposed to do. I would like to know for my own requirements.

Lord Ryan, I've got a very similar problem and it might be of help to you to go to 'Yep...it's that old favourite Jaheria romance problem' in the BG2 technical support page on the Bioware site. The trouble is, the site is really slow and very badly designed to boot. I've had several suggestions that have moved me onwards although it's not resolved yet.

 

Never mind, DerminSpawn is indeed a global.

When it is one, then Dermin spawns 7 days after the variable is set to 1.

Also, I found a couple interesting things in her script.

Did you ever meet Reviane? She's supposed to spawn 3 days before Dermin.

Also, Dermin will not spawn in Chapter 4, 5, or 7, in areas ("AR2500","AR2600","AR2000","AR1100","AR1200","AR1400","AR1900"). He also will not spawn in a dungeon, indoors, or in any situation where you see an enemy or a neutral. He'll then spawn a second time 6 days later when LoveTalk=53.

 

I found a way to combat all those Jaheira bugs! Kick her or kill her and never have her in your party!

 

Well, okay. So, I tried
GetGlobal("DerminSpawn","LOCALS"), and the comp. said it didn't exist. But, then I tried deleting the "S" in "LOCALS", and it brought a text in my text box, under the line where it resays whatever I just sucessfully typed in the CLUA box, that said "GlobalERMINSPAWN LOCAL". But, there was no value with it. I tried holding the hand on Jaheira, holding it on her portrait, holding it on her portrait when only she was selected (instead of the whole group), and it just said the same thing again and again.
So, we get back to the same question; Do I have a DerminSpawn value? If we did this, and still nothing appeared, maybe that's why Dermin hasn't come yet? If I don't have it, how do I make it happen? Can I do something to create a DerminSpawn number, kinda like how I forced Jaheria's LoveTalks to come faster by using JAHEIRAROMANCE?
And, yes, I did meet Riveane. I allowed Jaheira to tell her who I was, and we decided NOT to fight, and she left saying she would have to think it over or discuss it or something. And I've already slept WELL past the amount of days it should have taken Dermin to appear, so that's not the problem.
And, I am on Chapter 3, so that's also not the problem. I read somewhere that my alignment could hurt, but then I don't think the romance would have started anyway. Either way, my alignment is chaotic good.
Also, instead of listing the area numbers, could someone please say what areas those are? Or, is there a list somewhere on the web?

Dermin will normally spawn in Athkatla. I already posted the places he won't appear in.

Have you met Reviane yet?

 

He'll normally spawn in Athkatla? Then I'll just go there. What I had asked was what the area numbers meant, but as long as I just stick in Athkatla, I should be fine.
And, yes, I already did meet Riviane, and said Jaheira could tell her my heritage, and we left the encounter without fighting.
So, okay, I tried the DerminSpawn thing. I tried all the variables. I tried it like you wrote it, and I tried it in every Athkatlan sector, followed by my sleeping in the area. But, he still didn't come. Then, I tried switching "GLOBAL" to LOCAL and LOCALS, and I took the "" marks off the 1 after trying every combination I already listed.
But he still hasn't come. What is he, wearing a ring of invisibility? This man is good. But I will FIND HIM! I just need a little help....

In that case, then the fact that the global doesn't exist is the problem.

Try this: CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("DerminSpawn","GLOBAL",1)

 

Okay, I already tried that, and nope, that didn't work. The text box above the CLUA box acts as if whatever I typed in was valid, but then nothing happens, no Dermin appears.
Help!
