Do anyone have good build for a Ranger/Wiz/Archer? I'm currently Ranger 1/Wiz 1.

Ranger(9)/Wiz(1)/AA(x) is the most straightforward. Extra Arcane power will allow you to disable your enemies, though, but the usefulness of that will depend on whether you brave wearing armour or not.

The best bet is to look here, assuming you have a BioWare account. Then just put Ranger, Wizard and Arcane Archer on the checkboxes. I'm sure there are a ton of builds out there; which are better than any others, though, I really couldn't say.

The Magpie's suggestion looks about right to me although I have never built one.

I did build a bard/shadowdancer/arcane archer and that was just too damned cheesy for words to describe.

 Too true, JSBB... Shoot, HiPS, wash, rinse and repeat! I'd say that it'd probably get dull very quickly, though. Add UMD for extra power if things go pear-shaped, as well as some Arcane buffs (Cat's Grace a-go-go!) and you're pretty damn well covered!

I'd still go with the ranger version, though, for 2 reasons: </font>
    1. Less cheesy
    2. I like rangers! :p

What about Bard/RDD/Arcane Archer? Not so cheesy and it would look good with wings. ;)

The Ranger(9)/Wiz(1)/AA(x) sounds pretty solid. But do prestige classes give XP penalty when multiclassing?

And also another quick question while I'm at it; Do the Rogues sneak attack stack with the Assassins death attack?

Fortunately not. Otherwise, Arcane Archers would be particularly stiffed. Well, you could go Half-elf, but that's not really in the spirit of things, is it? I have never been able to find in any of the manuals any information on whether they receive XP penalties or not, but the consensus both here and on the BioWare boards is that they don't. Which is just as well, as it would make adding a prestige class to anything other than a human or half-elf nigh on impossible, and I've managed an elven Ranger/Assassin/Shadowdancer before now, without noticing the 40% XP loss that would result if they did cause a penalty.

It means that you can use any race with any regular class and add two prestige classes without getting any XP penalties.

(I've tried a Half Orc Bard/Red Dragon Disciple/Champion of Torm, not the most effective build but it was fun).

You mean the NWN game manuals right? The fact that prestige classes do not count when checking if XP penalties are warranted is part of the rules of 3E D&D which NWN was based on.

Indeed. I've never played any tabletop D&D game, so don't own any kind of 3E rules guide; hence, there's no way I'd know this without having done some trawling round some forums. It would have been nice if it had been mentioned in one of either the SoU or HotU manuals, as I'm sure most other people who bought NWN + expansions are in the same boat. Of course, it might have been mentioned & I just missed it, so if anyone has managed to find it, let me know! ;) Also, not getting printed manuals doesn't help the search, really. Guess BioWare dropped the ball on this one. :heh:
