SoU - I think I botched the Shadow Hart quest

So, I was looking around for the Shadow Heart and found it. In my haste, I ran up and started talking to it, before deciding if I want to get it's horn or not.

Anyway, talked with it a bit (since I'm a Druid) and decided I would exit the conversation so I could save, that way I could see the different options. So, I said goodbye without attacking or telling the hart to flee...

But I guess I only get one chance, cause after I exited the conversation (and saved), the hart vanished.

So, anyway to get him to reappear, or did I break this quest?

Any info\help would be appreciated.

I can't find anything to confirm this, but I was under the impression you get only one shot at talking to it. If you've got a save not too far back you'll probably have to revert to that or forget about the quest.

 

That's kind of what I was thinking.

Oh well, maybe it works better this way. Now instead of the hart dying, or the elf guy's wife dying. They will both continue to exist in stasis for all eternity.

 

Sometimes he vanishes and teleports to another part of that same area. You might try exploring a bit and you might find him again. But yeah, exiting a convo is not a good idea. Bioware even says so on one of the load screens.

As I recall, your options are basically "run and be free!" (and get some XP and probably +good align points) or you try to kill him to get the horn (and his heart).
