    [IMG] Okay.
So it took me and a friend a really long time to get NWN installed on my PC. I first had to change my memory-chips, download some drivers, re-install Windows, make some images, literally work my pc with a hammer, etc, etc. And after all that I wanted to install the SoU-expansion as well. So I typed in the origional 35-character CD-Key and I got a message that the key was invalid.

Being quite numbed, tired and pissed cause all the crap I had gone through first (I guess I've gone to PC-Hell and managed to get out somehow), I guess I just had enough BS done and decided to check the internet for an other CD-key that might work. And it DID work. Yes. Not 100% legitimate, but I don't really care right now.

And now I wonder: How is it possible that my origional key-code doesn't work? I actually paid for that one, not for the other.

Because it only checks that you have typed in a valid key that is not one you have used before. E.g. it takes three codes to install OC, SoU, and HotU. But you can type those codes in any order. You don't have to use the HotU one for HotU - you can use it for OC, but then you wouldn't be able to use it for HotU anymore. So long as the program is satisfied that you bought three codes, it doesn't care which installs you use them for.

Actually - to answer your actual question: either you mistyped the original code, or you have already used it for the OC, or you got a dud, misprinted code.

As far as I can remember, I used the OC's key for the OC. When SoU was released, I bought it right away and installed it with the code that came with it and after that I did the same with HotU.
Now, the only one that is invalid is SoU. Weird.

And I'm pretty sure I didn't mistype the code. I often write the code down or print it, in case the code on the manual wears off.

Oh well, I might have done something wrong a few years back and not remember that.
Now I think of it, I lend the game to a friend for quite a while. Perhaps he has something to do with it.
(Yeah, MoN, suits you fine! Blame the friend! :nono: :p )

    Thanks, HB

If it's worked fine once and not now, you've mistyped it. It's as as simple as that. It's easy to get just one character wrong and render the code invalid.

It's a really good idea to save the codes at BioWare's site once and always have them handy later.
