[IMG] Does a racial spell resistance stack with the monk spell resistance? (i.e., Svirfneblin Monk, Drow Monk, etc.)

Beyond making sure that the race in question can or should become a monk, I believe spell resistance ir spell resistance. When you cast a spell to bestow spell resistance, it isnt separate or distinct from any other form of spell resistance...I think. I'm fairly sure that's the case in 3E, and I know it's the case in 2nd, but thats a dead language. ;)

In the Plot & Poision (A Buidebook to Drow) says Drow Monks are actually fairly common. Mainly used for assassins. It's a d20 system book.

I didn't comprehend your answer, though. So I'm still unsure if it stacks or not.

Right, sorry, a bit unclear, I see what you mean. From my experiences with 3E (mainly in games like NWN), I'd say that spell resistance does stack, but unless you find a rule that states it in black and white, it's your call. Here's how i'd rule it: As a drow, Drel'nath is predisposed towards resisting magic, that's in his blood, he doesn't do anything to get it. As he trains to become a monk, he disciplines his body and mind to resist the effects of magical assaults. Because he achieves one through a state of mind, and one innately, I would rule to first make the monk SR check, and should that fail, he always gets a second SR check for his racial status, he doesn't have to try, so he neither improves this nor loses it through training. It's like a fail-safe. That help?

SR does not stack. Use the highest score.

Like 90% of the score in 3E SP doesn't stack, keep that in mind!

Well, there you go, a straight answer. But then, house rules never hurt anybody...feel free to choose the more practical, cooler ruling, you know, if you want to. :D
