[IMG] I give up !! The Chosen of Mystra's site has had a link error for some time and I can't find out where the Auril's Bane mod adventures actually start.

    Any clues anyone?

Just play the game. It's better to get surprised than spoiled.

Need more input...
I can only guess what your situation is.

The first changes AB makes are in the prologue, so if you want to get everything you have to restart.
If it's your first run-through I strongly recommend avoiding this mod, it might spoil your game with overpowered equipment. (Immunity against most attackers (including the end boss) and weapons with 30 percent insta-kill chance (including the end boss) like I experienced it aren't really that fun for most players.)

OK. Been through IWD several times. This time I have a party parked in Kuldahar ready to go back to the start of Lower Dorns Deep (after the Ice museum). I have also taken that party to the HOW glacier after the Burial Isle (different save sets). Are these too far to start AB or am I OK still?

Auril's Bane is not an expansion like TotL, it's just a mod which mainly adds some extra enemies, items or spells to the game.
You don't start AB, you just play your normal game with a few changes.

I don't know if AB changes the game areas you have entered before installing it in your save game, you'll have to try. But even if it works you will have missed some things, like the spells and equipment sold by Orrick in earlier chapters or the extra things AB added not only in Dragon's Eye or the Severed Hand for example.
You probably already have missed most of AB's add-ons, but installing it now shouldn't hurt. Just keep a backup of your prior saves so you could continue from them in case AB messes everything up and you'll have to do a fresh install.

If you want a change you could start the game with pregenerated characters who have pseudo-kits.
