There is a doorway in a house (in begger's nest? i can't quite remember where now) where streams of lightning or electricity or whatever crackle, keeping you from going through it into the room(s) beyond.

how do you get by this?

I also ran into this door and wondered what it was, but I never found out. I don't think you *need* to go through it though.

Was it after the battle with the Sword Coast Boy Lich in the warehouse?
Then I think you´ll need to talk to the prisoner to deactivate this electric stuff.

And, I think you have to kill that other enemy in the room with it. Correct, though, talking to the prisoner does the trick, but there's nothing back there, so you don't need to open it.

hmmm.. interesting. first off, there were no cost boys anywhere when i played.. i guess cause i went straight for the creature first, THEN walked around town. there WAS a prisoner, but when i found him he just thanked me and ran out, leaving the forcefield in place. but there's nothing back there? no goodies? sheesh.. whats the point of having a forcefield if there's nothing good behind it??

Same thing happened to me. The prisoner just left. And there's another door behind that force field...

There are two ways to solve the beggars nest job. Both will eventually bring you down to the tombs under the big graveyard. One passage leads down there from the cult building, the other one from the swordcoast boy house. The fight against the swoardcoast boy "lich-light" or the conversation with the prisoner should actually open the lighning gate - the door behind leads to the catacombs under the graveyard.

When you're careful you can clean both the cultist house and then the swordcoast boys house for lood and XP ;) before descending to meet that Yuan Ti ;)
