[IMG] What is better sudded leather armor(non magical) or leather armor +1?
When i equip leather +1, it has -1 missle, and -1 something else, does that mean that such attacks can easier hit me?
I don't get what does that mean, + and - about certain weapon tipe.

When weapon has +1, +3 vs. giants, does that mean it is +4 against giants or just +3?

studded leather (non magic) is generally considered better becose it give same bas armor, but can be combined with a ring of protection for example.

the -1 against missle and for example +1 against slashing shows if the armor is better or worse against a specific type of weapons. Forexample a leatherarmor will give you next to no protection at all against missles, again a bonus to studded leather. And a chainmail with have +2 against blunt, making it worse against blunt weapons.

    1. studded leather. It gives extra protection against piercing while normal leather gives less.
The only advantadge of leather+1 is the lower weight.

    - for damage types is positive in the information, + is negative, since lower AC is better.

[IMG] So, could that mean that studded leather is better than chainmail because it doesn't have + modifiers and chainmail has +2 to crushing?

Studded Leather gives an AC of 7, -1 against piercing and -2 against slashing that's 6 against piercing, 7 against blunt and 5 against slashing weapons.

Chain mail gives an AC of 5, +2 against blunt and -2 against slashing weapons. That's 5 against piercing, 7 against blunt and 3 against slashing.
(I don't know the missile modifiers.)

    So chain is better.

If you want an effective AC you can add the average of the 4 modifiers to the AC. But I usually just take the best AC, the modifiers don't change much.

Against axe slashing goblins chain is a little better than splint, but splint is far better against morning star bashing Ogres.
But I wouldn't swap armors because of this.
