Stupid respawns!

    [IMG] Hello

I have BG and ToSC with 1.3.5512 patch. When I enter and area and kill a group of enemies, another group will respawn at the same location after a few minutes. It's really anoying, is there a way to stop it?!
If I kill every hostile creature on a map I expect them to stay dead??

Hm, depends on your location. On some points they do respawn. Where does this occur for you?

Everywhere!!! For example I kill a group of bandits & ogres.. Well, after a few (4 or 5?)minutes the enemies respawn! It either bandits & ogres again or some other enemies... Like skeletons & wolves. It has never happened to me when I didn't have ToSC I think.

That's not supposed to happen... Did you try deleting everything in the game's cache folder yet?

Wow what the heck - It seems that I dont even have a "cache" directory, but my cache is set to 512MB... Hmmm.

I created a cache directory, and re-set my cache size. I hope it'll work now.

    **** E D I T ****

I think it's no good. The game won't store anything under "cache" but only under "temp".

Here is a screenshot what happened after I killed all elite hubgoblins and returned to that location about 5 minutes later (I didn't exit the area!!!):
    http://sentry1.hypermart.net/images/Baldr000.JPG

NOTE: ALL the corpses you see are 5 minutes old. The new enemies spawned right on top of the old ones.

!!!!!!!!!! this is REALLY annoying. A real mood killer.

That's way too many goblins! You should probably reinstall as stated above.

I have always had that problem, so I don't think a reinstall will help. 'Tis maybe still worth a try, though.

Am i right in thinking that that screenshot was taken in the place near the sirenes and the lighthouse?
Cos if it is then i use that place as a level up area. You are not the only one with which this happens.
However if this is rampant throughout the whole game then do a little test.
Go kill someone important like erm.......mulahey (the guy in the mines at the start). Then go back a day later and see if he is there again. The story will say he has died but he may respawn. If this happens you have a problem. Something to do with the in game memory.
If not it may just be a minor version which respawns lesser creatures. If reinstall does not do the job then i would say that it is the disk which is faulty. Try to get another copy off a friend of something and use that see if it helps.

These things won't happen to a quest-relevant NPCs... Only these random groups of critters.

Bah, random groups of critters respawning in the wilderness, happens to me all the time. Take it like a man! :p That is no bug, now if the big guys (NPC's related to the story) respawn, that's a bug.

I believe that if you save (or perhaps load) all the minor monsters will respawn. And that is done deliberatly(sp?) by Bioware.

Indeed, this is not normal... try a patch or a reinstall.... Oh, before you do this, first check the difficulty level... That doesn't cause this problem, does it?

Well, no. Maybe I should be happy... With all the extra EXP I get :D

Firestorm is right. I read (but forgot where but anyway *I'm sure* ;) ) that Bioware implemented the monster respawn to prevent people from saving and reloading all the time. This is not happeneing with quest related enemy groups. However, when they respawn afer a few minutes it starts to be strange.
But I made the observation that, when I'm lazy and make my party go over an explored area without looking, they frequently are attacked by respawned monsters. Since I never met anything worse than ogres that`s all right :D

You're not the frequent-reloader-type by any chance ? :holy:

;) And finally: Who has ever complained about loot *and* xp ? ;)

    my 1500th post

[IMG] Well, i can agree that the monster respawn time is quite disturbing,

    *SPOILER*

like when you are under Candlekeep and walks up the great room with all the skeleton archers in the middle, they respawn after about 1-2minutes sometimes, thats kind of annoying... :p

    Congratulations Ragusa.

I was with my Thief-Only party on the same location. I killed the hobgoblins, came back some later, and indeed there where 8 new ones. So this is a known problem (at least now) I also made some screenshots, I'll post them when I'm home. It looks great, four thiefs and on the rest of the screen you can only see the bodies of dead Hobgoblins :)
