Which one do u think's better? I've tried with Swashie and Kensai/thief, but not yet Multi class. imho, swashie is strong all the way till the end. Yet, Kensai/thief is rather weak even if he regain his kensai abilities. His trap do punny damage, but backstabbing with him rules.

My Kensai/thief haven reach high level yet, i would like to ask some suggestions on Multiclass Fighter/thief too. Which way do u think would make out the best thief. Do Multiclass get both pools HLA too?

Yeah, i got Kensai/mage in my previous game. It rocks!!! I restart the game when i juz duel to mage... a hard game to play alone.

U should try backstabbing with kai, hehe. U'll know. My kensai's duel wielding now, does it hamper backstabbing ability? I've heard that backstab should be perform single handedly for the best effect.

I dualled it at lvl 9... coz i did it to my Kensai/mage last time too.

I've saw a list about dualling, it says that if i dual to thief at lvl 9. The max lvl i can get is 39, whereas at lvl 12 too, you still can reach lvl 39!! Which make no diff much later, and its stronger too... I'm sorta confuse... hehe

Why don't you go the whole hog and dual the kensai at level 25? That way you get a number of greater whirlwind HLAs and that would be really nasty.

Whatever you choose, all variants are interesting. Atm I have a halfling custom mc swashbuckler-fighter in my party, very powerful. Having toyed around a bit with an mc kensai-thief as well I can say that both are about equal. To have a thief who can't backstab is a challenge indeed :shake: The mc kensai-thief is a little opverpowered IMO, but nontheless nice to play.

However, the most powerful charbI ever played was a half-elven mc custom kensai-mage. Even stronger than my halfling cavalier :heh:

Wizardslayer/Thief is a good combo, might be a pain in the ass though, until you get UAI Ability...

But once you do, free 20+ MR and that all powerful cumulative spell failure.

Although, I really like to have access to Greater Whirlwind, so I'd probably take either Swashbuckler/Fighter, or multi Fighter/Thief, both are good :) .

Not possible without cheating. You can't dual-class into a kit.

Ragusa, I'm assuming that you used ShadowCheater to get those chars, because multi-classes cannot use any kits and halflings cannot dual.

The DC kensai-mage is about the strongest combo I've seen, just make sure you're about level 12 when you switch over.

The single-class monk is pretty hardcore for solo as well. I suggest you try it.

Eh, Rastor? We're talking thieves here I thought?

Ghost, just use SK to edit your appearance to whatever you fancy. I prefer the thief's too, and it suits my Fighter/Thief dual more, since he only has 13 levels of Fighter and 20 of thief :) .

I'd just like to say fighter/thieves probably have the most interesting dual class combos since you can dual from either class, so you have 6 different possible kits to choose from.

[IMG] Rastor, indeed I do. But I have principles: I take care the thievery points available match the kit restrictions and respective levels. I also change race and avatar if I like, so my halfling archer has a thief paperdoll since he looks better when wearing leather that way. Doh. I never edit the stats btw.

The only thing is that I create fun chars the game doesn't offer. That's by no means cheating - since that is the only thing I do. Actually it's harder to play multiclassed chars compared to dualclassed ones. So I don't get your point when talking about *shadowcheater*. It depends on how you use it. It's nice and very funny to try a wild-mage/ thief for a change ...

Personally I find it worse to wield both c'fury and crom than customising mc combos ... Just my humble opinion :shake:

Isnt the problem with the swashbuckler the low hitpoints? He might have the great AC, THAC0 and damage, but a couple of solid hits can smash you good. In the long run, will a swashbuckler be a better fighter than a fighter himself? It would be a shame....a ripoff kicking your butt.=(

Well, Swashbuckler is supposedly a better fighter than your average thief, but I beg to differ. Backstabbing will yield more damage than straight melee ever will, and even more so with potions of invisibility or assassination.

Swashbuckler is good but I'd never play a straight one, they're dual class material.

Oh also, Swashy will only have 1 attack per round unhasted EVER(2 if dual wielding)! Fighters get 3 as early as level 13, not to mention greater whirlwind attack which will set it to 10, while your swashbuckler will still be stuck at 1 attack, and not be able to even use assassination.

However, Swashbuckler/Fighter makes up for this, since you'll be able to use greater whirlwind attack, and your AC, THACO, and damage bonuses complement your fighter abilities very nicely. This is for people who want a fighter who can take care of traps and locks, and still be great in melee combat.

Now all I have to figure out is which is better: Swashbuckler/Fighter or Kensai/Thief :) .

Due to my playing style - lots of front-line fighting with spells and missile backup - I usually do not like to use thieves. I rarely backstab, never set traps, and only use their hiding abilities sparingly, so I never use them to their full potential - I usually keep lots of "find traps" spells memorized with my priests/rangers and plenty of "knock" scrolls on hand (sometimes i just summon a lot of them in with the console).

However, when I did make a thief PC, I was pleasantly surprised by the swashbuckler kit - he has good fighting abilities, and still had good stats in the only two theif abilities I actually use - find/disarm traps and open locks. When I do make thieves, they are always swashbucklers.
