[IMG] Does this happen to you. You start a new game, you think you have a perfect party, everyone is really strong and cool. Then you get into the game and there is one character that is the different one, he's not as strong, weak, always needs healing, does like 6 damage when your outher fighters doing 40.

Oh its sooooo ahhhh........... I've got a party I am happy with, 2 nice fighters, cleric, rogue, mage all very unique and cool. Then i've got my level 7 ranger/wild elf with two long swords (moonblade and a +2), BUT SHE SUCKS... I dont get it she just does like 1/6 of the damage of the other fighters yet her strength is 19 and shes got a 13 CON. Yet she still loses hit points fast. Thats not what bothers me, its that her proficiency says -3 when i have two in the large sword slots, light armor on, I DON'T get it. I know rangers are not as strong as fighters but this is ridiculous.

Can anyone help me. Explain this? Also feel free to vent on that one stupid character you might have who just really chaps your ass. I feel like the coach of an olympic running team with a legless man.

Well, I do know what it's like, but fortunately I haven't had that problem with any of my characters in my current party. The only thing is that I have to remember to use them properly.

My ranger is always at the front, dual wielding, when a second melee is needed, my cleric of tempus closes, while my sorcerer and bard are providing ranged support, with both spells and ranged weaponry as needed. Of course there are times when my ranger needs to use his bow too. As long as I'm not stupid enough to let my sorcerer or bard try to tank, and remember to mirror image them whenever they are going to be in melee, it works out fine.

    1) About the damage:
    - Moonblade SUCKS!. Strength and proficiency bonuses DO NOT APPLY to damage! Because moonblade doesn't deal PHYSICAL, but MAGICAL damage!

    2) About the To-Hit: Ambidexterity works with ANY weapons, while Two-Weapon Fighting REQUIRES light weapons to take a -2 off the penalty. And Longsword +2 (and maybe Moonblade too) are NOT considered LIGHT. In order for the TWF feat to work, you need to dual-wield Short Swords OR Scimitars.

Give the moon blade to someone who does not have a high strength, i.e. a weak cleric or a mage or someone who is not a tank. As Modjahed said it sucks if you try to use it with your best tank (I let my Pali use it for a while until I realized he was doing like 8 or 9 points of damage with it).

Also if you want to dual wield, in order to reduce the penalty I think you only need to have a light weapon in your off-hand. My ranger duals with a longsword and either a dagger or a short sword (usually the short sword) and she does not have the –3 listed in her to hit calculations (I think it is only –1).
