    This is one story a lot of Winnipegers wish would just go away. Indeed, to say that I have trouble feeling any sympathy for any of the persons involved would be to put things mildly.

    I've only been in Winnipeg for 3 years, so while I've built some connections with the local bar as a law professor, it hasn't been extensive. And yet, something I've heard more than once through the lawyers' grapevine is that Jack King has a reputation for being an absolute bucket of sleaze. Nobody in the local bar is surprised that he pulled a stunt like this, on his own wife and client no less.

    Alex Chapman already signed off on a release and waiver years before, took his $25,000 and ran. But now, imho, he's wanting to cash in even more.

    Whether or not Lori Douglas had the pics posted without her knowledge and consent, part of a judge's job is to lecture / chastise parties who appear in court on matters legal, moral, and/or ethical. Well, plenty of people are wondering what this now does for her authority as a judge, and for public confidence in her as a judge. "Yeah, she's talking down to us, even though she posed for hardcore pics ..."

    Pretty sordid business that should have stayed private, but now the cat's outta the bag ...

    I had no idea who Alex Chapman was before clicking the link. Is this a big story in Canada? Just asking because it's a complete non-story here, and I read the news every day.

    I don't think it's a big story in Canada. Hell, it's barely a big story in Winnipeg unless you're a lawyer. And Beren being a lawyer and all... :p

    In fairness, though, it's getting a lot of media coverage locally, but I really don't think anybody cares other than lawyers. My wife is a lawyer, and she's eating it up; fortunately her sister is also a lawyer so the two of them can gab about it and leave me alone. :D

    The judge was foolish but not illegal in allowing the pictures of her to be taken. To my knowledge she had no idea what her douche of a husband was doing. She shouldn't be facing all of this hassle because her husband is a pervert.

    As for Chapman, I have rarely seen such a disgusting excuse for humanity. He has Zero credibility, IMHO.
