    [​IMG] Any review on this series of books from Salvatore? I just finished the Paths of Darkness compilation and I'm looking for something new to read. The Cleric Quintet seems interesting, especially since Cadderly and Co. show up at the end of Servant of the Shard.

    I bought "The Promise of the Witch-King" but it looks to be a quick read...Kind of sad, really - since I love Jaraxle and Entreri! I find myself identifying more with them lately than Drizzt and the Companions of the Hall.

    Anyway, any thoughts on the Cleric Quintet? Is it worth buying and reading?

    I've bought it but haven't read it yet... It's considered one of the best of Salvatore's works, so I don't think you can miss with it. Especially considering the one-volume Collector's Edition tome costs a whopping $13 via Amazon.com at the moment...

    I bought the cleric quintet years ago, and had amixed experience reading it. Not all of the five books were good to be honest. Felt abit like reading a dungeons and dragons session with the main characters being 10 levels+ higher than the badguys. But all in all it was a good read though.

    It's funny you say that, Rawgrim - I felt the same way about "Sea of Swords", the last book in the Paths of Darkness series. Drizzt and Co. fighting ogres and pirates?!?! I mean, come one - they've beaten dragons!

    The end of the book and the regaining of Aegis-Fang was a bit of a let down. It seemed like they were levels over the competition!

    Anyway, I bought the Cleric Quintet, along with the first two books of the latest Drizzt series from Tal's Amazon link. I look forward to reading them!

    I've read up to the third now. Decent reading, didn't have thoughts like "boring!" or such. Althought it's true, overpowered characters. They seem to be his trademark, like LoS_DrIzZt4 said.

    If you like the other Salvatore stuff you wont be disapointed by the Quintet. Not good, not bad and smoewhat entertaining. Not his best work and not his worst, decidely mediocre.

    Yes, Cadderly is annoying, but brothers Bouldershoulders are awersome. Not as good as Drizzt series, but worth reading.

    I'm starting to find Salvatore to be a bit too slapstick for me. The cover art on most of his books give this away I suppose, but it's all a bit childish and farcicle.

    Its better than that "Hunter's Blade Trilogy" drivel Salvatore's been writing recently...but definitely nowhere near as good as the Icewind Dale Trilogy.

    I bought the cleric quintet some years ago and as most have said here the books are smoewhat entertaining, a good read if you are bored. Some of the characters are overpowered and at times it does seem like reading a dungeons and dragons session.But they are still a fun read.
