[IMG] TenTonHammer has posted an editorial speculating about a remark made by ZeniMax Media Inc, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks, back in 2007 which stated they were in the process of making an MMO. Although the editorial is nothing but speculation it does raise an interesting idea. That of an Elder Scrolls MMO.

Basically, I imagine that The Elder Scrolls Online would take place shortly after the events of the last Elder Scrolls game, Oblivion. To make a long story short, the rightful heir to the Imperial throne, which is located on the continent of Tamriel, has died and has left the throne empty. For any fantasy aficionado, this is a prime set-up for a huge struggle as a variety of combatants struggle to emerge victorious in the vacuum of power. Can we say PvP-based confrontations anyone?

When I first played Morrowind I thought "why doesn't this have multiplayer". Nothing is certain at this point but it is definitely an idea worth perusing.
The rest of the editorial can be found over at TenTonHammer.

I have only played a couple of MMo and wasn't that impressed. My experience was that people had no concept of team playing and the game just ended up racing around smashing and bashing.

A couple of my games you need to get a group together which can be difficult because of the time zones. Who is available and when.

I might be interested in a competitive game, different players taking different factions or provinces and playing against each other but then we have the timing problem.

I`d rather want a new single-player game from that series, than a damn MMO. Can`t stand those.
