The beings of the Outer Planes are formed from the belief of the Primes, as we all know. Now, there was a character in Planescape: Torment who mentioned that every symbolisation would have a reflection of a creature in the Outer Planes. And he said that love should have a powerful creature, because love is a strong force.

Question: Is there a love beast in D&D and what is it like? Is it extremely powerful?

The Upper Planes are home to angels, which are basically the opposite of fiends and represent the various good beliefs in the multiverse.

    The hierarchy goes something like:
    solars (highest)
    planetars
    devas (lowest)

Solars are nearly demigods/powers, probably only close to rivaled by the greatest demon lords and the Lords of the Nine in terms of the strength of the beliefs they represent. Generally they are proxies of the gods on good-aligned planes.

Other celestial beings represent good beliefs as well including archons and the elf-like eladrin. As far as I know, there is no specific "love" being of the upper planes, but solars are basically pure goodness, including pure love, so they we be the closest to what you are looking for.

do these forms have to be creatures though?
or could love infact be embodied as something else like a spell or sentient force?

Also remember that powers/gods are representatives of conespts and ideas etc. so the essence of "love" would probablly be a god or a goddess (Sune from Forgotten Realms for example). And as such whatever creatures or beeings favored by that power would most likelly be the closest thing to a personification of the consept.

    What about succubi? :D
But seriously, if there is an embodiement of love, I'm willing to bet that it would be a god or goddess. After all, there are dieties of love in, for example, Viking mythology (Freja), and as we all know, the Viking Gods and Goddesses do inhabit one of the planes (Ysgard, I think).

I'd say that succubi edge more towards seduction (usually put in a bad light), abusal, betrayal, trickery, deceit etc.
