The Twisted Rune

    What is the history of this group? They don't discriminate when it come to membership... Beholders, vampires, liches.

    I know that Bioware intended for there to be a big quest involving the Rune but it was left out due to time constraints, but how many references to them have you found. Here's my list...

    Guarded Compound - where you get the Rogue Stone to enter...
    Shangalar & Co. - Home of "The Staff". Doesn't link to anywhere AFAIK.
    Riejek Hidesman - He has some Rune Assassin's in his basement along with a mage who sais something like "You'll regret messing with the Rune". This leads to...
    Umar Hills - Darcin Cole (?) and...
    Trademeet - Reijek again and his skindancer friend. And that seems to be the end of that link.
    D'Arnise Keep - If you have Nalia in your party TorGal does some talkinf in which he refers to the "other", or something like that, who organised the invasion of the keep. Is this referring to the Rune?
    Mind Flayer's in Temple Sewers - I'm not sure about this one but the boss Mind Flayer (an Alhoon?) refers to gathering an army and I think also talking about some "other". More rune refernces.
    Amkethran - Not sure again but I remember some reference to all the mercenaries there being hired by the Rune?


    Am I reading Twisted Rune references where they don't actualy exist? It's like the X-Files, I've gone Rune paranoid!?!?

    Well, TorGal is probably referring to the Roenall family, and the mind flayers are probably just building an army... But that's just my qualified guesses though. ;)

    I think it's a fairly safe bet to assume that everything that has to do with the tanner quest is also somehow connected to the Twisted Rune...
    But then there's another thing, who's that lich you meet during Cernd's quest? Might he be connected to this in any way? (improbable, yet not impossible)

    Thanks Mirkwood you reminded me where I picked up that odd rogue stone the other day.

    Never noticed my first time through, probably sold it straightaway. Tried to stack it with some others second time through and noticed it wouldn't stack and had a crytic description.

    Its a shame that any rogue stone works, they should have made it so that only this one worked for the TR door.

    Has anybody took into consideration that this Twisted Rune thing might be a clue to a possible sequel to the BG series? BG1-Sarevok, BG2-Irenicus, BG3-Twisted Rune? Something to think about! ;)
