    Yeah, screw that list :p

In this modern fast paced world, we only have attention spans to list five singers. Nobody does top tens any more. ;)

Bjork almost made my top 5. She's number 6. I'd say "with a bullet," but that honor is for Neko Case. I've only discovered her recently and man, I'm smitten. Most surprising of all is that it's her latest, a country album, which hooked me (and I don't really listen to much country). She's historically more punk, so it's kinda cool.

Is this about who I like best or who I think sings the best?
(I have to think a while for making both these top 5s)
Also, can they be part of a band or should I solely sum up female vocalists with a solo carriere?

Whatever you want, MoN. It should probably be your top 5, not who you think are the best of all time.

A random selection of ones I can think off off the top of my head

    Beth Gibbons (Portishead)
Katy Jane Garside (From Daisy Chainsaw days, I haven't heard Queen Adreena)
    Alanis Morissette
    Lou Rhodes (Lamb)
Diane Charlemagne (On Goldies "Timeless" album)

Also up there would be the lass from Puretone (only because of the one song), and Sophie Ellis Baxter.

Nice! An other Lou Rhodes fan :) And now I got Goldie's "Innercity Life" stuck in my head as well. Interesting stuff, Carc.

Here are some of my list, in no particular order. Just a few. There are many other women that I like (to hear them singing, mind you)

Lou Rhodes - Lamb's singer has gone solo. :)
Sia - One of the females of Zero7. She's gone solo as well. The other women, Sophie Barker and Tina Dico are not too bad either (understatement here)
    Dido
Skye Edwards - A pity she doesn't sing anymore for Morcheeba. And while the new singer isn't that bad, Morcheeba's new album didn't meet my expectations.
Lisa Bassenge - Singer of Micatone

I might as well have listed Shirley Bassey, Nina Simone, Sarah Bettens (K's Choice), Geike Arneart (Hooverphonic, an other Belgian lady), Sinéad o'Connor (if only for appearing on Massive Attack 's "The 100th Window") and Björk (of who I have no albums yet, shamefully).

Well, my top five have not changed. So, I will list them again:

    Amy Lee
Annie Wilson (and she is awesome, DR)
    Dido
    Sara Brightman
    Linda Ronstandt
