It's been fairly smooth going in the Keep, until I ran into the Stone Nuisances, guarding the Altar of Night. I've tried everything -- swords, axes, missiles, acid arrows and a variety of spells. The party is also hasted, blessed, protected from fear and evil (10' radius), barkskins, etc. Nothing seems to be working. Can someone suggest a workable strategy?

You're trying to get the *to* the altar?

Boy, I don't know what to tell you. If you're just getting the gems from the chest, you don't need to whack those guys at the altar. They respawn when you have to go back to get the stone from the altar.

I'd say just run like hell in there, grab the stone, and get out. I know they take some decent firepower to even hit, much less whack. If anything, blut weapons and piercing will net you better kill scores.

They are spell casters, so silence should give you a little help. Is there sanctuary in this game?

I'm telling you right now, one good Jedi could just wade in there and take out the entire hive. You'd be Knee Deep in the Dead, but at least you could walk up to the altar...

LOL!! Excellent strategy about running and grabbing! That worked...took some missile hits, but not much damage. (I would have liked to have blown them to bits though, just on principle.) They did attack us first, and in pretty short order, heh. I tried the silence spell, but it had no effect -- I never really heard them say anything...just kept firing those bloody missiles. And then, after all that, finally get up to the chest and the damn thing's EMPTY!!

I believe the Shield spell is proof against Magic Missile.

I think I had to use blunt weapons to kill them, but it's been a while, so I could be mistaken.

    Ohhhhhh.

Spellbound, soundz like you're having a bit o' trouble figuring out what you're supposed to be doing with those chests and altars.

It's a bit of hit and miss on this one. I'll steer you in the right direction, or just give you a blatant answer, if you want one.

Finally figured out the gems in the chests thing, but never did get the stonies to die.

I'm now in the final Luremaster battle (9 hours worth so far)....what a mess....unfortunately it's my party's blood that's all over the floor. :(

Oh; yeah, that final battle can overwhelm you. It's important to sleep right before you enter the portal.

Remember that that bard is your main target. Once you whack him, he callz off all the other enemies around you.

If you rest right before you go into the portal, that battle should be a lot easier. Haste, and some raanged weapons helps disrupt him. Especially if it's from a wand, cause your mage can be doing the haste thing whilst someone else pops him with a cone of cold or a fireball/missle.

Get a fighter hasted first, and get him in there with another melee guy, even if that second guy isn't hasted. Two targets means you can pull out your hasted fighter, but still be kicking with the second guy until the Bard turnz on him.

This works well with quite a few of the boss battles, or at least, the ones where they actually move around and chase you.

By the bard, do you mean the Luremaster? I've tried to follow him around....he won't stand still long enough for me to do much damage (even hasted). He keeps teleporting everywhere and, meanwhile, all the others catch up and just wail on us. I've gone through all my protection and offensive spells. I've got one axe, but all my fighters are specializing in swords.

I got really close one time, with only one of these guys left standing...but I must have made a wrong move, because shortly thereafter, about 10 of them appeared and cut us to ribbons. I'll keep trying....I think this battle is event tougher than Irenicus, and I thought that was pretty bad, heh.

I just completed that battle last week, and it was challenging. I had two of my fighters equipped with bows and kept firing at the Lure Master. They kept following him around and peppering him with arrows. My Illusionist cast a lot of monster summining spells to keep the other nasties busy. My Clerics healed and cast Animate Dead. My Thief/Mage cast Magic Missles, etc. The Lure Master was off to one side for the start of the battle, so I ended up fighting his minions for a while until I located him.
    Keep after him! :)

Thanks very much for the tips! The Luremaster is finally dead. Instead of going with all swords, I decided to send 2 of my fighters in with some powerful arrows...and just kept hammering at him until he was severely wounded. He then went into hiding until the very end. I hasted the party 2x and summoned some monsters and threw in every protection spell I had, heh. I had one ranger with silencing arrows, which really made the difference. She silenced everyone with 1 shot, then took out her sword and joined the other fighters, who by now, having the Luremaster on the run and wounded, could dispatch the rest of his cronies fairly quickly. The Luremaster then reappeared and made a weak attempt at retaliation, but I sent all three fighters and the ranger in to wail on him.....it was over in seconds. Definitely, one very tough battle!
