I'm using firefox, and when I visit some pages, mainly wikipedia, I'm having trouble seeing other characters than latin (greek, russian, chinese etc) All I see are ?????s. It's really annoying, when I wanted to get the unicode necessery, I've download a file from microsoft's website, but it told me since I don't have ms office XP, I can't install it, why?

I'm using open office by the way.

Open Office might be the problem. I have MS Office and have no problems seeing any characters in Firefox.

There may be a plugin somewhere.

I don't think so, because I had OOo at one point and it made no difference. Even though some guides suggest that you add some languages from the language-menu, it doesn't have any effect either. Maybe we don't have the fonts or something, but I guess this feature just has been overlooked by the Firefox developers.

It has the language possibility yes, but it is not automatic.
Every time you encounter a page you can't read you should switch it by the hand the character encoding.
That is possble by going to View---> Character enconding.
There you can enable auto detect for one language, or choose a different language than the one you use (better yet codepage or fonts if you understand this better).
