So how about it? I'm considering buying UT2K3, and half the people I've heard say it sucks, and the other half say something along the lines of "it'll get inside your head, and kick your head's ass."
I do like the Ion painter, airstrikes/artilery barrages/orbital death rays were always some of my favourite weapons. I don't like how they reduced the number of a barrage of rockets from 6 to 3. From what I can tell, most of the weapons are just the same ones they've been using all along, just looking prettier. (sort of like the conversion from Unreal to Unreal Tournament 1.)
How about you? Is it cool, or is it crap?

The game is fun, but I regret buying it.

    I'll say this:

I, to this day, still like UT.

The little bit of UT2k3 I've watched other people play tells me the game has a couple of good points, but it's not an overall outstanding game. If you buy it, there's a good chance you'll like one map, and one mode. Possibly two maps.

    Same deal with the weapons.

There's two ways to balance a game. You can distribute the load evenly over the surface area; you can equally point-load the two extremes, and put the focii in the middle.

UT has two very polar extremes. UT2k3 is the distributed load problem. They have gone to great extremes to make all the weapons "balanced", and the gameplay "distributed". I don't care all that much for distributed loads, unless it's on my back, in which case I'm not playing games I'm working so why would I do that for fun?

It's just a big cycle of hurt.

There is a good chance you will like one, very particular aspect of the game. If it's an option, you might try it out on a friend's computer first.

Is Xan in it again? I heard they re-remade Face, making it the third incarnation, and I know that most of the weapons are the old ones with facelifts, but is Kriegor back to kick some ass?

no xan and no kriegor. The main enemy group (in the game you are a leader of a group that battles other goups) is all people from ut.

[IMG] I am not one to make generalizations about PC games, but after playing UT2K3 on my friend's top-of-the-line comp, I have come to this conclusion:

IF YOU HAVE A GREAT COMPUTER, THIS GAME BOASTS THE BEST GRAPHICS OF ANY GAME TO DATE. ANY GAME.

    Thank you.

Darn. Just for the record, Xan Kriegor is the name of the robotic/cyborg/whatever champion of the single-player mode in UT. You couldn't be him in instant action or multiplayer modes until you defeated him. Shoot. Well, I'm sure someone will make a model of him eventually... I hope.
