So here I am casting Freedom from a scroll and I hadn't saved some progress for awhile. Then the spell says Surge and a cow falls on my head. Just wasted a 9th level spell :p

Tell me that, my friend, I have seen weirder things happened to my Wild Mage. Why, just the other day the wild surge urged me to roll FOUR times! Wrong target, something weird, sex change, and a refreshment of lost spells were what I got! Result was:my finger of death was aimed at the other imp, who got sex-changed before his quick demise, and had a lot of gems in his body as a loot. Oh, and I got all my spells back! COOL!

But the best wild surge I had so far:I was battling the Improved Elite Fire Giants:who have %100 MR, casts stoneskin and pro from elements often, regenerates 6 HP per round, who are very strong, deadly, and likes to cast Lower Fire Resistance, and nasty other fire spells each time they are hit or they hit you, oh and they have permanent Fireshield. See, they are nasty. I lowered the MR of of them in an Improved Alacrity rage, added a GM, and, just for the fun of it, casted a Wail of the Banshee, hoping at least one of them would fail his saving throw. Suprise! Wild Surge:NO SAVE!   Oh the joy! The brutes fell like trees! That was sooo nice! I allow you no saving throw, please die instantly!

It can go against you as well you know...

I remember this one time, I cast Finger of Death, and I got a Wild Surge saying
    Roll Four More times!
    Oops! Wrong Target!
No Save! and something else...BAH! That was right in the middle of the Improved Abazigal fight too... :grr:

I don't know how to do a screen picture :(

Wild mage sure is fun. Thinking of making a bard and using SK to have him wild bard so to speak!

Just press print screen and it will automatically save them in your BGII folder.

Yes, I already have close to 300 cool screenshots of my current game...all those wacky wild surges, emotional moments, and scary mod battles, triumphant victories, etc. It is like a photo albume of my PC's adventures! Cool!

^Heh hee indeed, that crossed my mind too, and I do have some candidates for the Shot of the Week, but the PC I have BG2 installed does not have internet connection now...perhaps in the future, or when I get a new floppy (mine is broken now!) or CD writer or such

yep. I love Wild mages. Watch out though. That cow can land on your head too and it can do some serious damage.

My Favorite just because it was like timing that I wish I could have planned was against Yaga Shura. Double Length Time stop. Cast all my attack spells hoping to have him about half dead. Refreshed all my spells and dumped them all into him again. The time stop ended and I thought my computer had about froze and then the screen went practically white from all of the spells and then chunks of Yaga Shura and ALL of his little captains and other creatures around rained chunks down. But I didn't have any mods at the time installed to make them harder. ~sigh~

My best: My LvL 20+ WM cast a Chromatic Orb on a particular nasty demon group in Watcher's Keep, and surprise, surprise... Surge: Roll two more times, Surge: Area Effect, Surge: No Save.

^Yes, I totally agree, that is way too cool! Did they bypass MR of the demons? Or were you already using the un-patched, MR-bypassing version of the Chromatic Orb? :shake: Nasty that! :shake:

Wild surges are funny in tutu too. Like summoning a demon in the middle of Xvart village. Though i would prefer a demon in the final battle. That would be the easiest way of killing Sarevok.

Yeah. Demon summoning is a low level problem in BGII as well. Had to reload more than once from gating in something nasty in the heat of a couple of the battles with the dwarves or the like.
