    I'm sure at least a few of you will remember this crazy polygamist creep (I know LKD will because he gives mainstream Mormons a seriously bad name).

    Well, no surprise, he was convicted of child sexual assault. Hope he gets life.

    I hope he never gets out of prison. His sort are seriously disgusting. I'm just grateful he was convicted. If only Canada would take similar action against Jeffs' friends in B.C.

    What is funny and sad about this at the same time is, when this kind of creep gets prosecuted and convicted, it likely feeds a martyrdom complex. Ya know, "The evil and wicked world is persecuting me for being the true messenger of God and walking in his holy light. I am just like Jesus and all those Old Testament prophets whose holy messages went unheeded. ..." Unbelievable.

    I find it somewhat humorous that he was convicted using his own records that he maintained. As the "prophet" he was required to document everything in his life - including the intimate details - and so they didn't even need the girls to testify to convict him. (The 5th amendment regarding self-incrimination does not apply to written documents, evidently.)

    But this guy was really a sick ticket. Marrying a 12-year old? (Not that 15 is OK either, but at least some 15-year olds look older than that, and are sexually mature.) But 12? He hasn't been sentenced yet, but the article says he likely sentence will be life. If it isn't, I wouldn't be surprised if they bring the rest of the charges up against him to make sure he never gets out.

    Well, his daddy apparently wasn't any better; for instance his last plural wife was 19 years old - when he was 85. So he essentially just carried on with the family business. Rulon Jeffs (Warren's father) had as many as 75 wives and 65 children.

    I read the Wikipedia article on Warren Jeffs and a few other news articles... wow. You don't know half of it if you only go by the latest news reports discussed here. Read that to get the whole picture. Jeffs basically ran FLDS as a private circle harem where his close associates and the elders would get to have their pick of child brides and any dissenting males would be excommunicated (and their wives and children redistributed to others!) as the competition between the elders to get their hands on new child brides was fierce as there weren't enough of them to satisfy the demand. The sect has also amassed enormous wealth as it basically owns everything that its followers do. You only need to look at Jeffs' "house" (the "temple" where he raped his child brides) to get the picture.

    Sickening doesn't begin to describe it.

    You're not kidding Tal. I love the comment about him expelling the mayor of Colorado City FROM Colorado City. That's a little bit of power.

    I also love how families are "redistributed" like possessions. I'm sure that's really a wonderful thing for a young kid to go through. I wonder how I can sign up for this little slice of heaven on earth?

    It's a shame the guy uploaded the video with a lot of hiccups... I've only watched the first part so far though, hopefully the rest don't have the same glitches.

    12 surnames in a community of 10.000... dear God. No wonder so many children all look alike - the amount of inbreeding and incest in their community must be staggering.

    This is really like watching a horror movie. How the **** could the authorities have allowed this to go on for over a century? But then again, when the local police, hospitals and so on are all staffed by FLDS faithful, I suppose it's no wonder.

    Actually it was a life sentance for sexually assaulting a 12 year old AND a 20 year sentence for sexually assaulting a 15 year old.

    Once he gets to prison I guess it will be his turn for a little sexual assault.

    Very funny. But in all seriousness, are those two sentences consecutive or concurrent. It's likely no surprise to you all but I'm deeply opposed to concurrent sentencing.

    I think there's a distinct possibility he'll continue to lead the FLDS from prison. You don't give up on god incarnate just because he happens to live in a cell. I wouldn't be too surprised if they attempt a jail break.

    Wouldn't that be sort of like a Christian intentionally stealing from Jesus? On the other hand, Warren has left a whole lot of tail unattended. I bet it will be tempting for the some of the FLDS elite to scoop some of them tasty morsels up!
