I am finding that sometimes, in the midst of a battle, I'm not able to change weapons by using the quick bar. I've even tried pulling my character out of the battle to change from a sword to a crossbow, let's say---but it doesn't happen. I have to go into the inventory menu and forcibly swap them out (and even sometimes the active weapon is grayed out, negating any action there as well). It doesn't happen all the time, but is occurring more frequently. Any ideas?

Well, changing a weapons takes time, maybe this causes the problem?

    Get the feat Quick Draw.

There is no quickdraw feat in the game.

As for the original question, I haven't really had this problem so I'm not sure what is causing it for you. However, one possibility is that you are trying to do too many things in one round. Even though the game plays like a realtime game from the player perspective, it is still a round based combat system. Its just the rounds are invisible. If you have already started a full round action and try to switch to something else, it queues that new action rather than doing it right away. This could be causing you to think its not working right.

Similarly, you can't run and drink a potion at the same time, which can be quite unfortunate. :p

It probably is the round timing---thanks.

Indeed, in the turotial in the prologue, one of the guys in the palace tell you that you can when you are on pause perform an action for example weapon switching, but when you unpause, the switching will take some time. WHen you switch from Sword and Shield for example to Bow, this will take much more time for you have to put your Sword in your Hilt, your Shield on your back, and take your bow.

[IMG] My pally is using a b'sword and I equip him a shield when I feel it's appropiate. Choice is clear: more punch = 2-handed wielding for the + 1/2 str-mod or shield for the +3 on AC.

However, I tried to perform that on the street sometimes and I wasn't able to put back my shield in my inventory, instead it was just gone. Odd. I usually reloaded then.

Really? It just disappeared instead of dropping to one of the back inventory pages? That's really odd. I switch weapons from dual wield to weapon/shield to twohanded all the time with the hotkeys and haven't had that problem.

one stange thing that i've noticed is that when i use the hotkey to change my armor 90% of the time it will crash the game within 10-15 mins.
but as long as i manually change armor i don't have a problem.
if you are wondering why i change armor i have special armor i found that makes me immune to mind altering attacks like confusion fear etc. so when fighting monsters that do that i can use that armor. unfortunetly that armor is medium armor and has more penilties then i wish for my ranger :) so i don't use it very often.
