What defines a spammer?

    Useless oneword posts. Or posts with just a smilie as a reply to someone's question. I see lots of those people on the boards i visit. I think they feel that their status rises with their amount of posts, so they try to get a ridiculous amount of posts in a relatively short period.

    Pretty sad if you ask me.

    Let's do some nitpicking here, though.

    When somebody just posts 'yup' to say he agrees with someone, he DOES give an opinion on the topic. You can't really say that the person is off topic and in much cases we even asked him for his opinion. Point here: When does one realy cross the spam-line?

    My thing: If one can't add to the topic, then shut up.

    It would be wise for me to shut up now... This really feels like spamming.

    My definition of a spammer is all the above PLUS the spammer does it several times a day to boost post count.

    Of course, the quantitative value of "several times a day" varies between people. I tend to draw the line at 3. Don't ask why. I guess third time's the charm... er, rather the curse that transforms you into a spammer :p )

    Spam is a type of tinned meat made from spiced and chopped cooked ham, usually eaten cold. So a spammer would be someone who executes the process of making spam.
