    [​IMG] He's suddenly disappeared from all news headlines some time ago, and we haven't heard anything since. And this was in the middle of his trial, as far as I remember. Anyone got any details why it's all gone quiet?

    No idea, now that you mention it is a bit odd. The trial has probably stalled for some reason and nothing new/interesting has happened so there has not been anything to report.

    AFAIK, Rally is right, the official trial had NOT yet begun. This trial is a very convoluted process, namely because he isn't a U.S. citizen, and the crimes committed were not on U.S. soil. And while not getting into whether that's right or wrong, I fully suspect it will be years before the actual trial commences.

    Look at how long we've been dealing with Slodoban Milosovic (sp?) from former Yugoslavia. I know that trial continued well into the 2000s and that was years after he was formally arrested.

    Yeah, I'm pretty sure the official trial hasn't begun yet. What I think you recall seeing Tal was just the arraignment stage for the trial. They'd said on the news at the time that the official trial won't begin for several months to a few years.

    Last thing I heard was the killing of one of the lawyers (I don't know how to say it, one who is in the trials against him?) and a judge who is in the same trial, and the attempt to kill another one.

    I'm curious about the charges against him. If the trial is anything worth there will be evidence be brought up against him, and evidence by the defense. Maybe we learn more about a thing or two.

    But then, I think they want him convicted so bad, they'll rig the trial accordingly. If Ahmed Chalabi's nephew is deeply involved that's definitely a possibility.

    So, well, I'm curious.

    But isn't or wasn't he held at that US base in Quatar?

    Perhaps the neocons are building a "zoo" of evil dictators. I bet that would be quite an attraction. In a few years they might add Kim Jong Il and Robert Mugabe in their collection. Of course the problem would be to get these to reproduce, there just aren't enough of evil female dictators around. ;)
