[IMG] simple enough question, i'm just not sure myself. I've got a dwarven fighter/barbarian who i'm sure will be able to handle all the melee in the game. What henchman/woman do you suggest I take?

    A half-orc barbarian.

(off topic: wtf is happening to the roleplay corner?)

The best bet for your character is Linu. You could really use an arcane caster like Boddyknock (sp?), but the AI for henchmen arcane casters is so terrible that they are simply not worth the effort. Linu will serve you best as she can provide healing and buffing, is a pretty good backup fighter and can turn the undead. The last thing you need is more muscle, so skip Daelan and Grimgnaw.

I would probably use either Linu or Tomi.

Linu is great for healing if you need it and at higher level her harm spells are nice.

Tomi on the other hand would take care of your thieving needs and if you set him to ranged attacks he does an excellent job of hitting enemies with ranged sneak attacks while they are focusing on your tank.

There are some henchman troubles that soloing spares you. Don't know how it would work for a barbarian, though.

I would go for Linu or Tomi. The decision would be based on how you like to deal with traps and locks. I hate bashing locks and steamrolling traps so I would go for Tomi (Tomis will also do some good sneak attack damage when enemies are busy fighting your PC). You can also take different henchmen for different parts of the game to suit different situations.
