    supercomputer in iowa state u.

See, my university just spent 1.25 million for this suppose to be 70+th fastest computer in the world. i was just wondering if i can use it to play F.E.A.R or call of duty 2 using software rendering and would get the same effect of ... sli 7800 + crossfire x1900? Calling upon a few friends' help i might able to sneak into the lab to test it....

also Bob Jernigan mentioned in the text was my prof. in one of my classes.

this might fall into techo magic if we just talk about limits of software rendering. It might fell into whatnot if anyone of you have any thing they want to test on.

Well...from the sounds of it, it would run extremely fast, but that doesn't necessarily mean that it will *display* those two games very well...remember the supercomputer is used for calculations on a massive scale, not rendering graphics...I wouldn't be surprised if it was running a low end card, displaying the results on a standard CRT monitor at a resolution of 800x600 @60 hertz. :p

I highly doubt that they would need cutting edge graphics to display text. :shake: :rolling:

Graphical PU's are stronger in massive calculations than CPU's, so maybe they just linked up a set of the latest NVidia chips :p
