Hayden moved the furniture blocking the concealed door and Jakob de-trapped it. The key from the pool opened it, cautiously they entered. It was some kind of trophy room, with a dragonskin, skeleton, stone basilisk and captured flags. The pair of Caryatid Columns flanking the door turned into a pair of scimitar wielding maidens. Garacaius aided Ashe to defeat the one attacking him whilst Hayden and Mistle fought the other. Jakob decided to try one of the mysterious blue bolts. When he fired his crossbow there was a loud 'crack' it unleashed a dazzling bolt of electricity, striking the statue, which exploded in a shower of marble fragments. "Wow!" he exclaimed.
As they approached the far end their blood froze. A Beholder! Garacaius cast invisibility and investigated. Luckily it was long dead, another trophy. Jakob discovered that not only was it trapped, but the huge eye unscrewed. Inside they found gems, a magic helm and axe and a white shield. When Garacaius tried to don the shield a voice in his head said 'no virtue' and he felt a shock which caused him to drop it. Mistle then tried with more success and the shield 'bonded' with her - for life!
They found a way out to the surface via a ruined kitchen and a cavern full of bats, to Gracaius's disgust. Now to find the horses and a cure for the would be werewolves!

Did any of them pause to think about the dead dead dwarf's riddle - how the treasure lay 'where beauty lies?' The answer was of course - in the Eye of the Beholder!

400 xps to Garacaius & Hayden
450xps to Ashe, Jakob & Mistle
