I'm trying to decide which one I should summon for future battles. If I summon both, they will kill each other. So, which one is more powerful? Its confusing because pit fiend appears as both a 7th level priest summon and a 9th level mage summon, but glabrezu appears only as a 8th level mage summon.Which monster is more powerful?

[IMG] Pit Fiends are pretty much top of the food chain for Devils.
Glabrezu are fairly high up for a Demon.

Overall Pit Fiends are more powerful from what I remember. :hmm:

In fights between the 2 which wins more often?

This implication is that the 8th lvl summons is weaker because it is lower in mage spell level rankings (though that doesn't necessarily play out). Everything stops at 7th for clerics simply because that is the most powerful (not including Quest spells) spell level they can access. Don't fall into comparing 9th level mage spells to 7th level cleric as the ranking systems (and spell types) aren't the same.

According to PnP, Pit Fiends are far deadlier, their melee attacks are poisonous and kill outright upon failed save.

A mod used to make Pit Fiends just like that, (tactics?) they had dispel magic to erase your buffs and pro from evil spell, insta-cast 20d6 fireballs, improved invisibility they try to keep active always, their 6 melee attacks per round require a save vs death or kill, and even when succesful they inflict a disease and slow effect. When near death, they gate in another fresh Pit Fiend and if you are not fast to kill it you have a new full HP one.

So PFs are far more deadly and scary in PnP. In the vanilla game, you don't need to compare them. All demon summoning spells suck and demons are far too weak in the game.

Not to mention the Glabresu is more susceptable to Carsomyr. :)

Although my paladin did one-hit-kill a pit fiend.
