White Dragon Scales?

Are the White dragon scales wearable by a thief? Becuase my kensai/thief wears it but all thief skills are functioning, and there aren't any penalties.

The white dragon scales are indeed unusual:
    • they are wearable by everyone except mages - my archer was able to wear them so they are considered leather.
    • they however had the scale mail/ chain mail animation - but when worn on my halfling thief they had no animation at all.
    • finally the are listed as chainmails (item code is chan-20), unlike the other plates which are eiher plates (red/ blue dragon scale) or leather (black dragon scales). They cannot be considered elven chain since they can be worn by an archer and iirc forbid use of mage spells.
Odd though splendid little item :D
