Ok guys what do you think?
At high levels, which is better; Monk or Kenzai (assuming they have good items like gaunt of crushing for monk)?

Monks are better in overall combat.
They do great damage (4 attacks x 1-20 + strength and gauntlets of crushing), plus they have magic resistance, immunities, healing, and special attacks.

I think Kensais are the best at one on one melee, but they tend to die alot when fighting wizards, mind flayers, beholders, and such. If you duel a kensai to a wiz or thief, however, that is another story altogether.

Kensai are better at lower levels when you compare them to a Monk. But get a Monk to Lvl 15 (a lot of commitment) and you will have a Char that will be able to kick the butt off a Kensai just because of the sheer amount and furiosity of attacks a Monk can put into a fight. Monks are a wonder to fight and can quite easily take on Golems all by themselves and several of the most powerful demons in the game.

plus i get annoyed with kensai's coz of the amount of people that DC them... but i won't start on that again...

Because some 'roleplayers' should be playing barbie dolls instead of Baldur's Gate 2 and they get pissed when we remind them of that fact.

Let's stick to the question shall we?
Why do Kensai get their but kicked by beholders and mindflayers etc.?
I think they're both great and I haven't decide which one to choose for my next time through or to play in Throne of Bhaal.

i knew i shouldn't have sed anything... shhhhh Shura... don't start again i've had enough of your Flames.

do Kensai get bashed by Beholders? i haven't noticed that... but they should have the same saving rolls of Fighters... weird... doesn't magical armour add to your Saving Rolls as well as your AC... i am sure i read that somewhere.

Only Keldorn's armor gives him +1 to savingthrows, but I believe that's the only armor in the game that does that.

[IMG] Hmpf, armor is for chaeting cowards only! However, since you seem to need to wear armor....

;) Punisher, there is the "armor of the believer" (+1 on rescue throws either, AC 1) or so as shadow keeper tells me, and, of cource my favourite "human flesh" (gives you +4 to all saving throws + 20% magic resistance and has AC 3).

Also quite nice: Helm of Balduran: (+5 to all rescue throws)

[IMG] There was a post about a week ago about magic armor and saving throws. The p&p D&D rules say no bonus to saving throws except for rings and cloaks of protection, but the BG2 manual says yes-bonus to saves for magic armor. You can find the specific passage in the magic armor section. It appears that this works.

Remove armor and look @ character screen / saving throws. Then put it back on & check again. Bonus.
