[IMG] Can anyone give a good Justified reason to use a wild mage?

I was thinking of creating a game to just try it out, but I can't seem to find a good reason to do so.
(a game other than my party advice post)

More spell slots. (if I recall correctly) You gain the extra spell slot with no disadvantage, too.

And it's fun, as well. Imagine that.

  3. You could use the reason your tired of the other mage classes...

I personally dont advise using them, but that is because I prefer to have the spell that I cast come out when I cast it.

    Weird preference I know.. :p

  4. Because I'm really lucky that every wild surge I get either refreshs me as though I had just slept 8 hours, gets squirrels on my team, or casts Sunfire for me.

And like TBR said, more spell slots, no disadventages.

First of all there is the sheer fun of it.
Second if you can't win a battle play it again and maybe you have some random effect which make you win a fight you would normally not win.
Third with their special level 1 spell they can cast any spell in their book(with a random chance of success), so you can cast chain contingency even when you can't cast level 7 spells yet.
fourth when you use improved shield you have a much higher success rate, thereby allowing the wild mage to cast more level 9 spells than any other class.
What more do you need to hear?

Wild mages are cool. I have created a halfling mc wild-mage/ thief and teamed her with Edwin. The most impressive spellcasting power I ever had.
Very funny to see what can happen when a lvl-11 wild-mage tries to cast a lvl-8 spell :D

Fun? FUN?! I once played a game (SoA-ToB) with a wild mage and it really, really sucked. He almost never got a wild surge, and of all the time playing SoA-ToB, all wild surges he got was gems/berries in your pocket, fireball and once (in Irenicus's dungeon) he made all weapons glow. The part I had him in Irenicus's dungeon was more fun than the rest of the game together. Not to mention all the wild surges came at critical moments, which wasn't entertaining at all, more like frustrating. (Apart from Irenicus's dungeon of course, I guess he used up all his humorous events in that dark place.)

  10. Once I used sunfire against Irenicous in the final battle and I became a Dragon.(only got the looks.).Once I used nalas wreckles dweomer and sarevok became a...a....a...Hell of a sexy woman(hahahahahahahahahahaha).Tis hilarius to be a wild mage.

[IMG] These guys sound like they are hilarious!

I might have to try one just for the hell of it.

(If I can turn sarevok into a chick that would be great!)

    @Padine
There isn't a wild surge that can transform you into a dragon. Next time take a look at the manual.

    Wild mages rule! :hippy:

More spells per lvl, no disadvantages and in high lvls it's most likely that you'll take a good wild surge. For example at lvl 25 if you cast an Improved Choos Shield and then a NRD you have a +50  to the roll determining the kind of wild surge you take.

All in all they are the best mage class.
