Everything changes with time. A new decade a new world society. Are we looking at the beginning of a split in the western culture. With the The english speaking countries into their own cooporation. Two western cultures split apart.
Or is just a temporary crisis in western ways of handling international problems, that will pass and be forgotten in a few years? Is it really bad enough for us to drift apart as one united western culture? Or are we overreacting, Which all humans do, loosing graps of the moment. Missing the bigger picture is a known human trait.

I don't think the rift between the U.S. and the rest of the Western world will deepen to that degree. Every once in a while there will be disagreements, sometimes severe ones, but our ties and history are too close.

I agree. Our ties go far deeper and our history and hopefully future have deep roots.

We've never all agreed on everything, within the EU or within NATO. That's the nature of people and different perspectives. We no longer have the "common enemy" to keep us together, so perhaps we show less of a united front publicly. But let's face it. We've never really agreed much with the French ;)

    Très sympa.

You mean there's going to be a rift between Europe and North-america (UK,Australia and Latin-America would be Europe) or a rift between continental Europeans and Anglo-Saxons ?

Me, I think it's quiet possible that there's going to be a rift. The US is drifting somewhere else.

Jesus, I love to be a free born western European. :)
