[IMG] Heh, I made a mistake. I was trying to open the BG2-ToB manual, downloaded from here, and it didn't know what to open it with. So, I told it to use WinRAR. But when I try to open it, WinRAR asks me to Add the file to an archive. I don't know what that means (besides, obviously, I am adding it to an archive)... what happens if I do, which one/where should I add it to, how do I do that, and, is there any way I can re-assign BG2-TOB.rar to another program that will open it?

It won't let me extract it without asking me where to add it to, is basically the problem. And, when I do tell it to go somewhere (I just made a new archive...), it wants me to extract the .rar file. If I do, then when I click on it it just makes me do it all over...

Saber, in the contextual menus (when you right-click a RAR file), don't you get an "Extract to..." or "Extract here" option? Which version of WinRAR are you using, exactly?

I believe I am using the latest version...

When I right click that file, I can choose WinRAR, which gives me these options: Add to Zip File..., Add to BG2-TOB.zip, Add to recently used Zip file, Zip and Email BG2-TOB.zip, Zip and Email Plus..., Configure.

When you left click on the .rar file (stack of books), you'll get a window with file listings and buttons at the top. Click on the second button that looks like a folder called Extract To. The Destination Path is where you want the files to go so you can look at them.

I have a separate folder for manuals, so my Path looks like this:
    C:bad:Documents and Settings\Desktop\Walkthrus

If all else fails, run WinRAR, go to File / Open Archive, find your file, open it, press ctrl+a, click the Extract To button, and the rest should be self-explanatory.

Or before that just press ctrl+s in WinRAR, click the Integration tab, then tick all Shell Integration options. Also click on the items button there and make sure that you have everything but the last two options ticked. Now you should be able to extract the file just by right-clicking it in Explorer and selecting the Extract To option under WinRAR.

Incidentally, all those context menu options you've listed involve zip... which is not what WinRAR uses by default (obviously). So are you sure you have WinRAR installed and not WinZIP?
