[IMG] I created a party of six in multiplayer mode, saved the game. Copied that save game to the single palyer save folder and continued the game in single player mode.

While going to all the different buildings in candleKeep I was caught tring to pick a lock in the soliders quaters and a fight started.

By some strange fluke I survived, my fighters got Plate mail and stuff, so I continued the to leave CandleKeep and it was not until I got to the Friendly Arm Innn that I realised my reputation was low (2) and teh Flaming Fist took an interest in my party. Since then I have bee eking out an existance in the wilds with the intention of trying to raise my reputation one way or the other. Since I cant go into the towns I started collecting gold to give donations to the temple East of Bergoest.

Does anyony have any better ideas or hints that may speed this process up.

Very strange what happened here to yo. Shouldn't happen. Have you killed a commoner or something liek that? When thsi happened zouse of a bug, I think it would be fair to higher it with Shadowkeeper to 10.

Easy quests that increase the reputation (out of the big cities):
    - Return Joia's Flamdance Ring (house directly west after you entered the Friendly Arm Inn gates.
    - Melicamp the talking chicken. (map south of high hedge)
    - Save the boy that's stuck in the Lighthouse (southern part of the Lighthouse Area)
    - Find information about Marianne's Husband (beregost, house above the Thunderhammer smithy, less chance to encounter a Flaming Fist guy)
    - Commander Brage quest. (South of Lighthouse Map, you get the quest in Nashkel, so do this after you lowered your rep is already highered by doing the other quests. Give the right answer on Brage his riddle and bring him to Nashkel. Then you gain 1000 gp, 1000 Exp, and +1 Reputation easily.)
    - Kill the band of Half-Ogres (and return to Bjornin, the paladin at the Jovial Juggler in Beregost, quest is north-west of Nashkel)
    - Not sure wich one but also some rep increasing quests in the map North of Gnoll Stronghold.
    - Dagger quest in the map south of Firewine bridge (be careful for other strong enemies, save often!)
    - Map southwest of Nashkel: Help the Dryad in protecting the tree, kill the 2 bastards.
    - Find the cat of Drienne
    - Samuel and Lena (map norteast of Nashkel Mines, find Sam and bring him to the Friendly Arm Inn.

I hope I helped you a bit, when there's a problem with one of the quests, feel free to ask and I will tell some more about it. Yuo can buy and sell stuff in Friendly Arm Inn and maybe also in the Thunderhammer Smithy in Beregost, wich is on the edge of Beregost. Good Luck!

[IMG] Thanks for the info on the quests, I reckon if I get & complete the quests that dont require me to enter a town I should have enough gold to get me up another couple of rep points in a temple.

I think you may be write about it been a bug.I killed 3/4 soldiers after been discovered trying to pick the locks on the chests at the end of the beds.
I walked around CandleKeep with the low rep but because nothing strange happened I didn't find out till I got the Friendly Arm inn.

Right now it is good fun trying to survive till I get a good reputation.

That's the right spirit, that more people here should have! Indeed, surviving, the chance to get busted by a Flaming Fist guy... that indeed is a challenge and much fun.

In Nashkel are many flaming fist soldiers. Keep away from that place until your rep is about 8..... Beregost is safer, I never see Flaming Fist people there unless you try to sleep on the streets :)

Ah a small correction, ShadowKeeper in the previous post should be Gatekeeper (Thanks Wildfire) but since you like this you don't need taht anyway)

Ahh well they aren't exactly Flaming Fist soldiers in Nashkel (thanks again Wildfire) but Amnish Soldiers, but I suppose they also don't like people with a reputation of 2)

    Cool, 1111 posts... :)

[IMG] I will pay Bergoest a visit later ... The Friendly Arm Inn is not as friendly as advertised...

Well I might be able to off load the great collection of precious stones that I have as well ...

    Thanks for your help

  6. Gems and normal rings and necklaces, if you noticed is good for gaining money to buy stuff. Friendly Arm Inn is a good place, full of stuff.(Except sometimes it's so boring when nobody is in!) ;) Ignore that, unless you go in the chatrooms.

I dont know what you did but if you played as a paladin or a ranger it would be my advice to simply start over.

Interesting I will se if I can duplicate your problem. :)

[IMG] i created a perty of six in the multi player mode
    1 fighter
    1 fighter\cleric
    2 thieves
    2 specialist mages

so reputation is not going to lose me any abilities ...

to start over , is something I don't really want to do because I want to see if I can get my team back on track and do this game

    Nice party!

Kenman ---> Why should he start over? He thinks this is a challange and challenges are fun, much more fun then just playing the game the regular way again :) That's the right spirit! I hope you will succeed in your quest, when you do, you have achieved a goal and had more fun in the game then many had :)

[IMG] Yes it is a nice party at times, bit short of man power once I run out of spells

at the moment the thieves are at level 3 and the others level 2.

I have found the thieves to be great for scouting and picking off enemies in the fringes of groups...

    HA Let the slaughter continue.

[IMG] Why do you have two thieves? Wouldn't be better if one was a fighter/thief or thief/mage?

2 thieves ... specialize in different skills , one is just the best when it comes to locks 7 pick pocketing but i don't do that much and the other is a trap finder... as archers and carrying a +1 and +2 sword they can hold there own against weaker monstors for now also one is human to give me the option to dual class later on

The party is good. A pure fighter for in front of the party. A fighter/Cleric for fighting and healing, two mages are enough.. Yes why then not two thieves? I was thinking about playing the game with a party of 4, all thiefs.

4 ... a bit much, when it comes to dealing out punishment to non humans. Even with fighter\thief there is the time it takes to get the armor back on for hand to hand ... In IWD you can pause and re configure your characters
even in the middle of the battle ... but BG the fight goes on regardless... which i like.

I was thinking also about 2 thieves multiclass
    1 fighter\thief
    1 thief
    specalize whatever way you like
    1 gnome fighter\illusionist ( i like these guys)
1 gnome mage\thief ( I think you can do that one)

a tough party to pay with but in those dark and dank dungeons they could be dangerous

I said If he was a pally or ranger B/c if that was the case they would of fallen and lost all of their benifits. But as he doesnt have eather it really doesn't matter.

[IMG] great news, i have got my rep up to 19.

After 35 days (game time ) hacking and exploring the wilderness around Bergoest, I entered Bergoest unmolested, sold all the precious stones I had, ID on all items I had and still had 3000 gold left. Went to the temple to the east and returned Bassilus's symbol and got 5000 more gold ... Then I bought my rep back to 18 , cost a lot but heh I have all the items and armor I need for the moment thanks to the many villians and viloent monsters in the wild.

Went to Friendly arm inn just to say Hi ...
Then to Nashkel and did not take the money from the poor fool who thought I was a guy call Gerywolf +1 to rep heh heh ... for despised to Heroic in a couple of days ... now it is time for some whoop ass

    HeadBanger
Thanks for the advice on going to Bergoest

Hey your welcome! I got another hint/spoiler :)! When you are in Nashkel and that guy thought you where Greywolf, move to the south (Nashkel Mines) and go to the Western Edge, and then the middle of the border. There's a "path" between the rocks, enter it a few meters and you will Encounter Prism. Choose to protect him and kill Greywolf (use Entangle on him). Greywolf has the best Long Sword in the game. Prism will also die and he has 2 emeralds as loot. You can keep them and sell them anywhere for 1500 or go back to the guy who thought you were Greywolf (the good way)
You get less money but a reputation increase (iirc) and another quest. (Commander Brage quest I described above)

About the thieves, the game is a little bit to easy, and I want to play this in BG2 but maybe also in BG. Just 4 thiefs:

    1 Fighter/Thief
    1 Pure Thief
    1 Mage/Thief
    1 Thief/Cleric or something

The fighter/thief can always use armor and get a low AC, by this way I hope to make the game more chalenging with some less good characters and also couse you don't have for every character a very good weapon but now I also have to play some lesser weapons and armor.

[IMG] I have always found thiefs and crossbows to be quiet a deadly combo ...

great for long range attacks ...

I was going to dual class one of my thieves but decided against it ... they have become a great source of misery to everybody friend & foe :)

Also there firepower is also a great help when my fighters are in the thick of it all
