Shut down doesn't work for me anymore - I click the whole Start => Shut Down thing etc, but it just doesn't execute it. What can be the reason? How can I fix it? Can it be related to any settings on the mobo?

Temps have risen each by 10-20 degrees Celsius but fans are blowing hard. What may be the reason?

Edit: Looks like installing Abit's uGuru utility was a bad idea. And yes, that's apparently what made the big temps even in BIOS when checking before booting into Windows.

Something is driving up your CPU/RAM usage...

Open up the Task Manager (CTRL + ALT + DEL), click on the 'Processes' tab, then click on the 'CPU' button at the top of the list and find out what program is hogging your CPU. BTW, System Idle Process should have >95...so don't freak out when you see that. You're looking for something else that's taking up a lot of CPU and/or RAM. :rolling:

That was the uGuru thing, I guess. I think it tampered with my BIOS or mainboard settings or whatever because I got those temps even after resting periods for my proc and 57.5 degrees (the record) is not something I ever get. In a normal situation, I see 45 degrees in high stress. Like now, thankfully. ;)

I have also uGuru installed, it likes to slightly overclock your processor without asking so that might have indeed been the reason.

Bingo, that might have been it. Too bad I didn't know it actually overclocked the processor instead of merely heating it up. Didn't notice any OC on BIOS level, though, while checking the temps, I think. Then again, I got the CPU frequency changed reports for a reason. Are you happy with uGuru overall?

I am happy with it, but I only use it to check the temps and fan speeds occasionally. It is also nice for BIOS updating, since you only need to push one button and it does the updating automatically.
