David had been thinking. Thinking long and hard about what he had gotten himself into, and he realised, that this wasn't his fight, and truth be told, he didn't want any part of it. When Claraton had ran out of the tavern, it gave David the opportunity.

He stood up, gathered his belongings and slung his violin over his shoulder. Downing his ale, he returned the mug to the table, and quietly walked out of the door. He was leaving Portson. There were dozens of other towns in the region. He would visit each one of them before he moved on, playing his fiddle to make his way.

It was what he was best at, so that was what he would do. He glanced back at the town as he walked out of the main street exit and continued on.

Talena looked at the leaving fiddler and shook her head. "Maybe he is right.." She mumbled to her self. "I don't even know what just happened, who where those guys, how did they know about Claraton."

"We should have stole a ship..." she says to now one in particular.

Neshi leant against the side of the building, deep within a well shadowed alleyway not so far from The Idle Sailor. Between her fingers she twirled the mask which she had worn on the way there, and wondered whether it was worth wearing back again. She wondered whether it was even worth going back.

No, it wasn't, she decided. Claraton had turned out to be a fool, a fool going to be beheaded when his treachery was discovered, and his plan was no plan at all. Going back to him was a waste, delusions of grandeur weighed more to him than her.

On the other hand, there would be a far better place than here for the night. She could wake herself up early, before he returned, and then slip out and head elsewhere.

'Maybe to the pier,' she thought, bitterly. 'Then I can just throw myself off and drown, and who would care?'

Slowly she placed the mask back on and headed out, through several more alleys until she came to the back entrance of the tavern, and quietly slipped upstairs...

Claraton ran as fast as possible, down the alleys and up the streets. Where was he going? The only place Neshi would be. Her room in the Idle Sailor. After a minute more of running, the boy found himself outside the inn. The guards were still coming, but the gap between them and the young bar-boy was expanding. I might just make it, he thought.

The common room was almost silent. Until Clar ran noisily through it, of course. Up the stairs three at a time. Neshi was surprised when the door was almost knocked off it’s hinges. Before any words could escape her mouth, however, Claraton grabbed her by the wrist and towards the window. It was a way down. It was worth the risk as well. And with that thought, they jumped.
