Tal, if it was that easy I would have done it already. The thing is that it isn't listed in the Add/Remove Programs section. At least, it isn't listed as IE. There are a couple of programs that I don't know what they are, such as 'KB9900 Uninstall' and 'Microsoft SDK for Java 4.0'. But I am not about to remove them without knowing what they are.

    1. Getting rid of IE is insanely hard. Because its highly integrated into the OS.

    2. I don't know what rendering engine IE uses but its not Gecko, which is what Firefox uses

    3. Firefox is a more secure browser. Partly because its less common but also partly because its not so tightly tied to the OS.

As to Jaguars problem. It may not be a virus/trojan or piece of malware.

Have a look at AnandTech mobo review

In the first two paragraphs the phrases "motherboards", "intel motherboards", and "AMD64" are linked in red and are external links.
If thats whats bugging you then

Jaguar, KB9900 is probably a Windows Hotfix, a patch, you should keep that.

Microsoft SDK for Java 4.0 is the Software Development Kit, it's used for writing Java code..
If you didn't install that, I wonder what that is doing on your computer, maybe it came with the comp.

I wouldn't recommend uninstalling IE because it's so deep into the code it might cause problems later on, best thing you can do is save your important files and do a clean reinstall.

Jaguar, it should be listed where I wrote it is. Not on the first screen, but after you click on the Windows Components button. I have Windows XP SP1 and it's there, and has been in every other version of Windows I've seen. Anyway, as has been pointed out you can't really remove it completely that way, but you should be able to install a newer version after it if you do. You can probably Google some more detailed instructions.

Just an update. I suppose on of my programs had an update that cleared everything up. So I am now sitting pretty. Thanks for all of the tips.
