    I've been avoiding these threads as this is hitting really close to home. The rest of the country and the world really can't imagine how important the Marathon is to us here in Boston. My town is on the route of the Marathon so it has been a part of my life since I was 5.

    My personal opinion is that I don't care who did it and why they did, but I'm hoping we do find them and justice is swift and terrible.

    When I first heard about this it brought back memories of when I first heard of the twin towers. there was a moment of disbelief and then it turned to anger and fear. I lost friends in the towers and had a wife of a friend running in the marathon. It is a terrible thing that people have to be so callous as to want to cause such destruction and pain. I just can't fathom why someone(s) would want to do this..:confused: It is just sickening to me. I feel for those that were there and went through this and my prayerz go out to them and their families. May God give their souls rest and peace. I also pray that justice will be swift and very deserving.

    It would be nice if they could catch him alive and question him, but I think the odds of him surviving are quite low. He and his friend have killed several people, including a child and a cop. He probably never planned on making it out alive.

    I bet they did plan on making it out alive, or they would have just blown themselves up with the backpacks while maximizing the damage by standing in the most densely populated area they could manage.

    Looking at all those international flags (and foreign marathon runners), I do admit the first thought in my mind was that it was some right-winger who couldn't find an abortion doctor to kill. Glad it turned out to be something else. Sometimes the heated nature of US political debate is appalling, but at least it hasn't devolved into outright terrorism yet.
