    HB, what do you mean by 'universal principle'? The evolution we've been talking about has been rather non-universal. Of course, the term has been applied to all processes of change everywhere, which can describe a truely universal principle, but then it's not an ID-vs-evolution thing anymore.

    The general evolutionary principle can be applied to lots of things, not just the biological evolution of phenotypes encoded and replicated via DNA.

    But then it's not really the same thing as organic, genetic evolution, it's just a process of change. Stars don't die because they're 'less fit', nor do mountains grow or erode by random mutation (or anything really like it). Change is universal, but evolution, in any sense that has any bearing to the genetic process, isn't. If anything, the reverse is. Entropy guarantees that everything eventually decays to a less organized state.

    As for why this forum, I imagine it relates to the fact that Intelligent Design has political ramifications (doesn't everything?) that go beyond the simple religion/evolution false dichotomy.
