Simple: it has to pass through a cow three times, thus people value it less than "100% natural vegetables." It's not about the costs of production, but what the people are willing to pay. If people wouldn't want Coca-Cola, their prices would be half of the current ones. The production costs simply tell you if making that stuff is worthwhile.

Wirhe, I don't have any hard numbers here but I wouldn't be surprised if soy milk is more expensive to produce than cow's milk.

Rasotr is right; cow milk is poretty chgeap to produce, and definitely so when compared to soy milk.

And damn, ii WISH soda was as cheap as bottled water here.... but then again, our tap water beats Evian.

Strange that Evian spelled backwards is Naive...

But it's a pet peeve of mine that the healthier choices are more expensive than the junk you can get. At Wal Mart I can get a 170g bag of rice chips for about $1.50 or a 270g bag of potato chips for $0.98. A 56g chocolate bar is about a buck, but a 28g piece of kippered beef is almost 2 bucks. And ovcourse bottled water is more for a smaller bottle than the soda that's not as good for you...

Milk from a cow is very bad for you. All dairy products are. A cow has 8 stomachs; a human being only has 1. It is not made for human intake.

    A cow has 4 stomachs....

And Gnarf, I definitely agree with you. Healthy stuff is expensive *sigh*

    !

As opposed to what, soft drinks?! They have erosion rates many, many times higher. And acids (citric and ascetic) added.

Dude...that's not cool. You people and your misconceptions on religions... I was raised Mormon, and I don't drink coffee because it's bitter as hell and tastes like sh*t. But if I was still Mormon, I could drink as much of it as I wanted.

@Harbourboy, I was only kidding on the juice thing. OJ and apple juice is good. You live life too seriously...repeat after me: "Goose-fraba".

As for everyone else...It's my body and I'm trying to do what's best for it at this point...If I wanted a lecture, I'd ask my sister...so leave your holier-than-thou attitude at the door, and lets talk about quitting a habit here! :grr: :rolling:

Actually the name just comes from the town where the spring is, Evian-les-bains. Nothing conspiratorial about it, just coincidental.

    And good luck Kitrax!

Plenty of calcium can counteract that.

The healthiest thing to drink is water followed by 100% fruit juice.

The healthier stuff is more expensive to produce.

Wow, my friends must have the bone density of a 90 year old! If he's thirsty, he grabs a Coke. He barely ever drinks any milk, and even then its usually with cereal! We go through at least 5 Cokes each every Saturday! I wonder what my own bones are like?

    Too true!

@Harbourboy...as for my teeth...I haven't had a cavity in almost 5 years now...which about the time I stopped my Skittles addition. Brushing twice per day keeps my pearly whites...white. :rolling:

Actually, Coffee is forbidden under Section 89 of the Doctrine and Covenants along with tea (from the actual tea plant, not these herbal teas), alcohol, tobacco and illegal drugs. Hot Chocolate is allowed in moderation as well as soft drinks. I'm not trying to lecture, just clarifying where they get that idea.
