• Incidentally, the Exile series I mentioned at that same post above is still there, but they don't work well with modern computers, instead you need to buy the remake, called Avernum. The games DO work with period operating systems, being Windows 3.1, Win9X, or 32-bit Windows like XP. Also Mac OS 7-9. They MIGHT work on early versions of Mac OS X on PPC Macs. They do NOT work on 64-bit Windows or Intel-based Macs without an emulator.

Edit:I seem to have something that is injecting gibberish into my url above, I don't know how to get rid of it. I'm going to be running an antivirus scan now. The ?pp=...gibberish is not my doing

Edit:The injection is happening even in Firefox's "Troubleshooting mode" with extensions disabled. Downloading a new copy of ADWCleaner with my win7 computer and running Malwarebytes...

 

I was getting worried that Malwarebytes and ADW Cleaner were reporting nothing. I wasn't surprised Windows Defender was negative. It catches cheat programs and product key extractors (I do tech support for technophobic family who don't listen to me and write down product keys), but ignores adware and some spyware. Shows Microsoft's priorities.

It looks like the ornament smashing game included with the "Jackie Lawson Advent Calendar" a few years ago.
It's also similar (practically a clone) to a game called Crystalize.

There are actually quite a few clones of this puzzle game, I'm just not sure what the original game was called. I'm almost certain there was a shareware game for the Apple II or Apple IIGS like this.
Basically you have a board and you remove matching tiles on it similar to Connect Four, then the tiles drop down and you again remove ones that match up connecting to each other, until you can't remove any more.

I have no idea how good the AI is for this, and frankly aside from the classic "Battle Chess" which was novel, fancy graphics don't matter to me in a Chess program. The graphics in the Apple II+ game "Sargon II" or just about any Apple II chess program like the one from PDSOF (they almost all looked identical due to primitive graphics) was perfectly fine as the graphics were actually pretty much the same as in the chess section of the newspaper or in textbooks.

A/N: Did anybody else think of an ancient computer game called "Neuromancer" when hearing about this? Feel free to PM me or start a new thread if you don't want to derail this thread.

It's funny, I was just talking about William Gibson's books (good reads, but a bit dated) with somebody and the video game tie-in "Neuromancer" (also the name of one of the books, but while it's set in the same "Sprawl" universe has nothing to do with the book with only one or two characters making a cameo in a bit part). Then I see this post, and I thought of how you set up your cyberdeck (called a "'deck" for short) in the game.

P.S. I know you can find the game on the "What is the Apple IIGS" aka "The Apple IIGS Memory Fairway" website, but I'm unsure what the legal status is. If it is "releaseware"/freeware or if it's abandonware and technically a pirate site, so I am NOT linking to it.
If anybody knows, feel free to tell me. If it's a pirate site I'll remove the reference, although the site has been around for over 20 years, almost 25 although it changed domains twice. That isn't necessarily a sign of it being a pirate site, Project 64, the Commodore 64 software manual repository site (also useful for other platforms because back in the '80s and early '90s they often printed one manual for all platforms/ports) has changed domains just as much.
