    Ragusa - I think there's a clear difference between 18 and 15. If you're 18, you're a legal adult, and it should be statatory rape no matter how old the guy is.

    I also agree with dmc - as far as I was aware, Roxanne was about a prostitute, not a teacher.

    And I also agree with joacqin - when speaking of that age group, I think a female student is more likely to be attacted to a 20 or 30-something male teacher than reversing the sexes.

    Up front admission: It is natural to be sexually attracted to young, nubile, post pubescent members of the opposite sex. Such attraction is, in an evolutionary sense, highly logical.

    The thing is, we have rules, norms, and mores in our societies. Acting on those attractions is where the problem lies. I firmly believe that it is wrong for persons of either gender in authority to engage in any sexual or romantic contact whatsoever with teens under their authority. To clarify, I also believe that applies to all adults when referring to teens, barring a 3 year grace period of some sort (20 year old dating 17 year old, fair enough. But no older.)

    Today, though, we have a double standard where men in authority are portrayed as predators and women in authority are portrayed as doing the boy a favour. Fact is, IMHO, they are both predators, no matter what the behaviour of the underage participant.

    I had 2 cases of which I was aware that students had a crush on me. I didn't dignify it by "having a talk" with them, but I made DAMN sure that I was never alone with them for even 30 seconds, and I stayed pleasant but professional with them at all times. I was lucky they didn't try anything further, and also lucky that my extremely lawful upbringing made it a nauseating thought to even consider taking advantage of my position.

    The difference between humans and other species is that we have a choice, regardless of feelings and hormones, you still have control over your facualties, and retain the ability to make logical decisions. That is why Female teachers are just as gulity as male teachers of any crime related to sexual or emotional involvement which a pupil.

    so, he fancied her... she still had a choice.

    so, a girl fancies a male teacher, he still has a choice.

    so, a female teacher fancies a student, she still has a choice

    so, a male teacher fancies a student, he still has a choice.

    its pretty black and white.
