Paradox reported sales of over 18.4 mil in the first three weeks. Not bad for a low budget game. :) Reviews have been excellent I have seen ratings of over 90T. I am so happy I backed this game and thrilled that Obsidian really came through.

So far I have not had any game breaking bugs just those insects that are part of the game. They can murder my party.

The only thing I am not happy about is the voice overs. What there is is very well done but two things: 1) too much USA standard accent. 2) I find it erratic. I click on a a dialogue and the person starts speaking then the next part is just text. For me there is either too much VAing or too little. I hope Obsidian uses some of their share of the profits to fix that.

Otherwise I consider this the best role playing I have ever played.

It's important to clarify that the $18m isn't just for Pillars of Eternity. It also includes Cities Skylines sales, which is another extremely successful game published by Paradox that was recently released. So Skylines makes up a large chunk of those sales.

Are you sure of that? That is not what I understood from the article I read. They indicated that the sales were about equal but Paradox made more of Cities.

I will have to do some research and see if I can find the article I read.

Quick search I haven't located the article but I did see that Cities has sold 500,000.

The Article stated that PoE had sold 18.5 mil not that it was combined with Cities. Then went on to say the two had sold about the same. Paradox makes more from Cities than PoE.

I will try to find the article.

I haven't seen an article like what you describe, but seeing as how Pillars of Eternity hasn't even been released for 3 weeks yet I'm not sure how they could measure the first 3 weeks of sales for that game alone yet. Cities Skylines was released about 2 weeks prior to PoE, and the article I linked was published about a week after the release of PoE, hence the 3 weeks timeframe (i.e. 3 weeks of Cities and 1 week of Pillars).

If you click on the link I included with my post it spells it out. In fact, that article is titled: Cities: Skylines and Pillars of Eternity Earned Paradox $18.5 (€17) Million in Three Weeks.

If you have another source I'd be interested to see it, of course.

PoE was only out two weeks when I posted so you are correct. The original report was in what Danish? Could have been a poor translation. Doesn't really matter since the game is selling and Paradox seems to be happy. As I understood it the sales amounts at the time were roughly the same. Paradox makes more of a profit on Cities but are still happy with PoE. Whatever the bottom line Obsidian should be happy. The majority of the cost of development was by backers so any profit can go to supporting OE and future development.

The expansion and now I understand they are working on a tabletop version. Hope I can afford it. I would love to have it. I did try reading the article you linked to but the Softpedia site is very hard on my eyes so I only read the first part.

Oh yeah, PoE seems to be selling very well, and I hope this means plenty of future installments will be forthcoming. It's a good time for Paradox, Obsidian, and Colossal Order (the devs of Skylines).

Speaking of Skylines, I'm not usually a big SIM guy, but it looks quite brilliant.
