Yeah, because it's cheaper than imports. :p

I figured out why Germany is so low on the lists: It's all the people who drink 'Koelsch'. The stuff tastes like used dishwater.

Note, guys, that the statistic is taken using the distribution of Kirin brand beer, a rather piss-poor Japanese beer, so you may want to take that into account.

/me pretends to have not read that

/me hears a threatening rumble in the bowels of the Kölner Dom

    Maximus :nono:

The honor of my city (if not my taste buds) demands that I challenge that statement. :p

Dendri, it pains me to admit that the bayuvarians brew the best beer in this here country. So my local patriotism is hurt already...

My father is Bavarian (well, Upper Franconian actually, but he's probably the only Franke who at times says he's Bavarian.). I am sure he's responsible for a significant part of the beer consumption. :p

I wonder if they included the increase of beer consumption towards the end of September/beginning of October here in Germany. If I recall correctly, Wiesnbier is a bit stronger than the usual beer too.

Oh, and it's interesting that only two years ago, Germany was number two in the statistic, while Ireland was number four.

England is not top because all the "kids" drink alcopops! (Those blue/green/other radioactive looking drinks)

It is also more and more difficult to buy "a pint" in a club...
