I've put Medieval 2 on the back burner until I can upgrade my video card. I found that some battles bogged down when I tried to command my troops myself...

Yeah, they are super powerful. But they are also slow (and their neighbors tend to be very fast, and armed with bows). Teutonic Knights absolutely dominate in up close and personal siege battles (defending or attacking). A bit more strategy is required to win on an open field though. You can easily run your units into exhaustion if you're not careful.

Their economy is also generally a bit more difficult to get off the ground. I managed it just fine in a H/VH campaign, but many players complain of going into the red quickly, and staying there.

I'm currently playing New Spain, which I think is my most enjoyable M2 campaign yet. I love how this campaign captures the idea of outnumbered but superior Spanish troops facing off against a great horde of native americans. Even in turn 100, I'm finding a good deal of challenge. The Aztecs are sieging me with 2 - 3 full stacks at a time, pretty regularly. It's intense!

Anyone still playing MW2? I've just reinstalled it. Going to give it another bash!

Never uninstalled it and played some this summer but right now I have so much other stuff to play. Too bad Empire: Total War sucked monkeyballs.

I thought Empire was good. I played it quite a bit. The battles were very good. It's just the campaign map was far too slow!

It's one of the first things I installed when I bought my new PC.
I tend to play it a lot for a while, then let it rest for a couple of months, or even as much as a year, then I pick it up again. Last time I played it for a while again I started a game as the Byzantines in the Crusades campaign of Kingdoms. A lot of fun, and while I haven't finished that game yet, I'm sure I will do so at some point in the future. It's a great game.

It's on the computer, but haven't really played it any time recently. Now you've reminded me, I may give it another go before I start considering next year's Shogun 2. Never did get around to Empire, in part because I find the time period less interesting.

Be cautious. The best plan for those enamored. Besiege empty rebel castles with margin resources. Bombard Cordoba with Naval and Calvary. Take Constantinople with Besiege and Navy. With in several rounds the very Best Knights and Legislative Embodiments are basically delivered to your gates. Improve castles and make people happy then the best Diplomatic Advancements reduced the rounds to adjust substantially. Oh yes and for the Fool hardy use France in that quest.

Hi Padonna, your post isn't very easy for me to understand, but I wonder why you say the foolhardy play as France?

It's been a few years since I've played, but I recall that France is very powerful. They have some amazing units in all categories, and some truly awesome cavalry, in a game where cavalry is king.

It kind of sounds like he's thinking of another game.
