I was wondering if a monk uses his stunning fist attack (succesfully) and then tries to trip the stunned opponent would they have an effective 0 for Dex/Str therefore having a -5 on there opposed roll to see if they keep thier feet?

[IMG] I'd say that a stunned enemy won't get a -5 for 0 Dex/Str. I believe they are treated as 'flat footed' and won't received any bonus to AC for DEX but they won't be considered at DEX 0.

And Yes I know a DM can do what ever they won't but going up more then one level in a single adventues is a major error. But it's not my campaign and I don't the to suffer in it.

Voltric: Tell that last part to Monte Cook, his Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil takes characters from 4th to 14th level. :p
I'd say the amount of levels to gain in a single adventure is largely dependent on the size of the adventure.
Right about the trip part though, in my opinion.

Well it's just that with a trip it is effectively an opposed str/dex check and I can't see how someone who is stunned can possibly oppose you with any effectiveness. Mabye not -5, but they shouldn't get any bonuses from high str/dex at least.

[IMG] I want to clearify what I was trying to say about going up levels. The post I was responding to said the party went up 5 levels after defeating the boss at the end of an adventure. I mean to say that a DM should not let their players go up more than one level at a time, and not more than one in a gaming session. True if you are playing a long adventure you may go up multiple levels but this will happen over a extended period of time.

I hope with clears things up.

Voltric: I understood what you meant the first time, I just wanted to be a little annoying. :)
